Hey guys… Need to find out the colours of the JASDF F-86 Sabre’s Cockpit… I have the 200 year old 1/72 Hasegawa kit… So old that the actual pilot was molded in the seat… Fixed that up, ready to paint, but the colours are a mystery to me…
According to the instuctions for the 1/32 Hasegawa F-86F-40 JASDF Sabre, the overall cockpit and seat color is Gunze Sangyo Aqueous Hobby Color #324 Light Gray, with red throttle (with white shaft) , red armrests and headrest, black stick grip, and silver pedals. All the panels are the same #324 Light Gray, with white and black switches.
Or so says Hasegawa!
I’d check some references before I went with that if I were you, though.
Thanks Brian… I actually typed thank you in Japanese, but it didnt register, so thats why the edit… But again, thanks for the info… Have you even opened that 1/32 baby?.. I looked at one the other day at my local shop… Y5000 for it, but not sure I want to open that can of worms?[:)]
Yeah, the forums can’t handle Japanese!
You just get this: #12354;#12426;#12364;#12392;#12358;#65281;
That was just arigatou!
Whoa, whoa, whoa! 5,000 yen for the 1/32 F-86? WAAAAY too expensive! They’re on the shelves here in Osaka listing for 3,200 yen, and usually selling for 2,500 yen.
It’s a nice old kit, with plenty of old-school detail.
Perhaps the one you’ve seen is a “special edition” with some resin parts, perhaps?
I think there’s a clear version, too, which might be more expensive.
The kit I have and have seen here is #ST10.
Did they actually change the interior colour of the Sabres??
I made the Australian Avon Sabre, and hunted high and low for referance thinking it would be different, and yet the interior and wheel wells were the same as any other Sabre.
For your Japanese Sabre, I can pretty well bet the farm on it, is going to be FS 36231 for any F-86F-5 or later. That includes the seat. The seat is also 36321 all over, with the cushions on the seat arm rests were usually black but can be red. The head rest is always red. And I say all this assuming we are talking about a North American built Sabre. Hobbydecal makes great dry transfer stencils and fuselage codes in the proper font for JASDF Sabres.

Check the price that is printed on the site of the Box, this is what it should be going for MAX. Most kits in japan tend to sell 10~20% below the marked price.
AFAIK, only shops classified as collector shops or 2nd-hand dealers are allowed to sell above that price.
If in doubt about the pricing of a kit double check with Hobby Link Japan or Rainbow 10 as they charge the marked price.
FYI, might be going to japan over Chinese New Year to escape the festivities in China.
Thanks Model… I know where the price is… I am not interested in buying it anyways… Dont like the guy that owns that shop much…He gets so excited when a westerner walks in the door, and always wants to practice his english…Then wants to rip me off… But his mid 40’s aged Philipino wife is an absolute honey… Dont know what she is doing with that retard?.. But thanks for the advice anyways!..
So If I am getting this right… The cockpit should be black, with black seat, and red headrest… Or should the cockpit walls and floor be white? I have seen sabres with white floor and walls?..Hang on, I am confussed now… Slow day today!
