Japanese Colors

I hesitated to post this when it first came to light because there was no English translation of this information. But there now is such a translation; the link to the English version is on the second page of this thread.

WWII Japanese colors: OFFICIAL finally!

As with many translations to English from Japanese (or many other languages) it’s somewhat difficult to follow until you get into it a ways.

Anyhoo, 'tis something for the Japanese aircraft gurus to chew on, I s’pose…

Japanese aircraft colors seems to be another one of those subjects where you have 20 different opinions for every 10 people. There is good information in that site. Thanks for posting it.

The debate will rage on, unabated [:)]. Thanks for the post, interesting material.

I’ve been struggling with this recently as well as I build my first IJN a/c. The kit says to use grey, but I have not found any substantiation.

On a related note, some of you may recall the thread awhile back about AvaxHome.ru. In case anyone’s interested they’ve recently put up Monogram’s ‘Japanese Aircraft Interiors’. Be advised that this site sometimes contains ‘adult’ content…

Aw man… I see also in that thread that All About Warfare is back somewhat…although you need to know someone there to register [:(] Butch2k had a great site originally with a great wealth of info…but since I don’t even know who the members are and my chances of being invited are probably nil, I can only hope he opens it up a bit down the line…

Here’s another useful page for IJN/IJA aircraft. The color mixes and FS numbers are at the bottom of the page.

THANKS FOR THE LINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNK, AND NOW, LETS WORK JAPANESE AIRCRAFT

A little bit more on the subject. You probably noticed that in the Great Scale Modeling 2005 there were some picture of the G4M2 Betty and the C6N1 Saiun that to me look more blue than green. Is this color correct or is just a phot effect?? If blue, does any one have a color mix to achive this finish and to what planes was used?? Looks cool to me.

Thanks
Saul
