hey PanzerWuff are you planning to do that shinden with rescribed recessed panel lines or leave it with raised lines? tell me the weathering tricks either way I guess. I am talking myself into scribe in the lines myself after a trip to swanny’s website. yea I am an easily swayed person. shinden in my opinion is the coolest intercepter concept that was approved for production during WWII next to the Me262.
RYAN i haven’t decided on technique to use to make my panel lines pop yet but scribibg my panel lines is out my new medication leaves my hands a little to jittery to rescribe i may preshade them and use the steel wool technique
I finally was able to get some good work done on my ki-84. It is the hasegawa kit (1/48) and I have the cockpit more or less done. All I can say is wow. What a great cockpit. It is very detailed. Hopefully, I will be able to post a few pictures in the next few days. The kit is so nice that it makes even me look like a decent builder [:D].

Almost done my zero for the Pear Harbour GB, lookf or pics soon. I’ll be starting my Hasegawa 1:48 Ki-43I Oscar shortly!
This is just to let ya’ll know that I am back for a few days.Digger
Finally, I have some progress to show. I am pretty much done with my hasegawa 1/48 ki-84 cockpit (of course I still have to do the instrument panel, but that shouldn’t be too bad). The kit cockpit is beautiful, but I did decide to add some of the elements of eduard’s zoom pe set because I really like the pe seat and instruments. I really went back and forth trying to decide what color to do the cockpit, but in the end finally went with unpainted (silver). I am planning on having a pretty well used plane so I tried to make it a little dirty inside, but it doesn’t show up super well in the pictures.
Anyway the pictures. Please give feedback, both good and bad.

Newtothegame…
Man, that’s nice!! The seat is awesome, although, looks a little uncomfortable. Nice work so far. Looking forward to more.
Jerry
i dont think the seat would be too bad once your butt was cusioned by your parachute
but awesome pit new cant wait to see the panel
Great cockpit! lots of red knobs.
Thanks guys. I am really pleased with how it turned out. As for the red knobs…seems like a lot to me too. I mostly went with the directions, but I think I did do one or two more in red - hopefully it isn’t terrible. Anyway, my hope is to have the instrument panel done and the fuselage closed up within the week. Not too lofty of a goal, but I’m also really trying to get a spitfire together, plus I’m a really slow builder. Anyway, thanks again for the comments. I hope all is going well for all of you.

Hello…
Im gonna have to withdraw from this GB as my 1/72 REX took a short flight into the dumpster.
After scouring the net for replacement hinnomaru decals for my disintigrated originals I came to the conclusion nobody sells them.
I created some homemade masks to hand spray them, only to find that they leaked like crazy resulting in a red smeared gooey mess all over my carefully weathered skin.
since light grey does not spray over bright red very well, my only options are to strip EVERYTHING and start over or throw the bloody nightmare away.
Sometimes this hobby gets me so frustrated…[xx(][xx(]
Okay okay…
I came to my senses and fished my poor REX from the trash with minimal damage.
I am still in a quandry as how to proceed. Light Grey wont go over my screwed up hinomarus. Should I strip the paint on just those spots and respray with grey? Will it match?
This is just frustrating because I was so hopeful for the little guy.[:I]
cj, I feel your pain, but am glad you decided to pull it out and atleast give it a shot. I’m sorry that your masks didn’t stay down; that really sucks! Personally, I would probably try painting over with the grey and see how it does, but that is just what I would try. You might want to wait till someone more experienced gives their say. Again, I’m really sorry about your disaster and hope it all works out. Keep us posted.
Leon
CJ…No worries. I think I would try to strip just the red and re-spray the gray. Your final clear flat coat should help to even things out. Even if it doesn’t match exactly, you can always claim it was a field touch up. Sheesh!,…I’ve striped all the paint off one of my builds and it’s no worse for the wear. Don’t give up. Don’t let it beat you. Everything will be fine. Good luck.
Jerry
Well finally, the Gekko is ready for some paint. Uncle Joe’s been movin kinda slow at the junction. I’ve been on the road alot lately and really haven’t been able to do any modeling. Maybe things will go a little faster now…NOT!!!

How’s everyone else doing?
Jerry
Cj this might help you out or any body with the same problem. If you lightly sand your finish good or bad to a smooth finish on the paint, you can repaint with a better base coat.
this would keep you from having to strip the old paint off.Once smooth down so no lines of the other paint shows, then spray with a flat base coat of black, primer red or dark green.Allow a week to cure and harden then spray with what ever color you want. This same techinic is used in painting cars, houses and tank cars in real life and works for models to.Digger
I appreciate the advice guys.
I’ll sit it on the shelf for a bit while I’m calming down and tackle it in a couple of days.
BTW Jerry great looking progress on the GEKKO there.
Looking forward to more.
cj95, I think the put it aside plan for a couple days is a really good one. Good luck with the fix.
Jerry, the Gekko looks awesome. Even with the overall shot, you can tell the insides look great! Can’t wait to see more.
Leon
Well ya’ll your host will be gone again tommorrow.I need to get started on mine pertty soon or have egg on my face.I will be back around dec 22.Boy that a long time and will be due for a good rest.Maybe this time I can get some modeling done instead of housework.Digger[:)]
Hey all, I know I didn’t build it for this GB but it is a Japanese AC. You can check out finished pics of my Zero in the aircraft section or the Pearl Habrour GB.
Now to start my Hayabusa!
Diggeraone- I had a thought that I am carrying over from the suggestions and feedback section http://www.finescale.com/FSM/CS/forums/542617/ShowPost.aspx
In a nutshell - Back in the BoB GB, I wanted to go back and see some finished pics of other’s builds but had no idea what pages they were on. For the Canadian GB (I am the moderator), when participants complete their build, I add a note that tells what page their pics are on. I know some people keep their pics only for a short time on what ever digital image hosting website they use but it in the meantime it can help others view their pics (I like to keep my pics up for the duration of a build and a little bit afterward). Just a thought?[tup]
