Finished the 75mm SP tonight , so here are some pics for you to view . The model is from Tamiya Japan Type1 75mm SP Gun 1/35 . Paints are from Tamiya and camo was done with silly putty . I tried the oil dot thingy , but not sure how well it worked on this small model . I will try it out again next time on a larger model . Well anyway here are some pics for you to view .
Nice paint job, Baron! I would have liked to see just a little muck on the suspension there, but that’s me. [:I]
The painting is really superb!
You might want to put a little bit of steel drybrusing on the tracks, and you should touch up some of those wheels–you missed some black spots there in some of the wheels. I would also put a little rust on the tops of those muffler boxes perhaps?
Thanks Doog yea i will hit those areas you spoke of . I rushed this one as you can tell i think . Also dropped it yesterday LOL . Some of the roadwheels i tried a marker and it shows now looking at the pics . So i plan on working on them again . I am going to do a small dio for this and when i get that figured out i will muddy it up to the dio . The mufler i was thinking it was a little too clean so i will work on them too . Thanks for your nice comments …I will take my time on my next build … a downfall of mine …
I am having a hard time finding a good paint to drybrush with . Tamiya doesn’t seem to work very well for it . I tired Model Color and that didn’t work too well either . I need to increase my paint inventory with some testers colors they seem to work better for it .
The camo was done with silly putty and it was my first time using it . It works just awesome !! I plan to use it on a Panther G i have ready for paint atm .
Baron, do you have a “Michael’s” craft store or an “A.C.Moore’s” close by? Actually, any large craft store chain will have literally hundreds of low-cost acrylic craft paints in stock which are perfect fro drybrusing! I use them all the time!
Testor’s might be too thin, and Tamiya’s are not very easy to work with–try the craft store paints! [:D]
You know i am just getting back into modeling . I used to use them all the time …Thanks Doog for the reminder …Looks like i am hitting the craft store today .
On Doog’s tip i went to my LCS (local craft store) lol and picked up some primary colors and some browns and tans acrylics . Reworked the model with some drybrusing and it has come out alot better so far . Still working on it and need to work on the tracks and wheels a little yet .
I am also starting a small dio for this model which i will start a post in Dio ASAP .
Let me know what you think so far . All comments are welcome .
The mufflers i am still deciding what to do with them . Do a total rust on them or what i am leaning towards is a small amount on the screens and more on the ends
