Hi All,
I don’t post often, but I lurk here a lot. Seeing all of the great builds going on has inspired me to actually build something! This is the first armor kit I’ve built in well over 15 years, and so far I’m pretty happy with the way it’s turning out. I’ve been experimenting with a bunch of techniques that are new to me; washes, pastel chalks, aftermarket resin, etc. This is the DML early model Jagdpanther, with Cavalier zimmerit. The Cavalier zimmerit really adds to the model, and in my opinion is much easier, and neater to use than putties. I still have a bit of work left to do; pioneer tools, spare track links, etc., but I wanted to share some pics right now. As I am not sure how to insert multiple images in one post, I will send them individually.
Your Jagdpanther looks real good. The Cavalier zim looks great and that in my opinion would be a tough zim pattern to do in putty. I used it on my Elefant and it works pretty well I think. Convincing finish.
As far as your pics, just line them up one over the other in your post:

[:D]great job on your kit,realy nice work.[:D]
Very good job, I like it, did you have any problems getting the decals down on the zimmerit?
Thanks for the comments, guys! I really appreciate the encouragment. As for the decals molenz, I brushed on a small amount of Future, applied the decals, then brushed on a bit of Solvaset. They settled down very nicely. And tigerman, I agree about Cavalier zimmerit; I love it! I have a number of other sheets that I’ve collected and I am looking forward to trying them out. As a matter of fact, I’m trying to decide if I want to do Dragon’s King Tiger, or Elephant next. I have zimmerit for both.
you must be kidding that this is your firsth armor in 15 years !?!?!?!?! this looks great !
Great job on the DML early jagdpanther. Thanks for sharing.
thats a sweet looking jagdpanther! yeah… i also enjoyed building this one… my puttied zim job didn’t look as good though
also i see you omitted the stowage bin at the rear of the compartment…
i’ve only one suggestion… you’d do well get the tracks to sag a little towards the drive wheel, i just think it looks to straight?
cheers!
Great Job! I think Im going to do a Jadgpanther as my next kit.[:D]
Great job on the early jagdpanther.
Thanks again for all the kind words. Yes Dragan, this really is the first armor kit I’ve done in 15 years! I usually model aircraft, but I’ve always liked tanks too. Mock Turtle; you caught two of my errors(?) I didn’t like the stowage bin, so I didn’t add it. I numbered the tank differently than what is on the instructions reasoning that maybe the tank with the stowage bin was a one of a kind. As for the tracks; you are right ,they are too straight. I cheated and used one piece tracks from a Tamiya Panther kit! I was going to use Dragon’s individual links, but after building the top run on one side, I couldn’t remove them without breaking them! I had glued all of the running gear on first! Next kit I do with individual links, I’ll leave the sprocket and idler loose until the tracks are built!
Verry, Very nice!![bow] You can cheat even more on the tracks by CA-ing them to the road wheels if you want, I still think it looks SUPER!!
Wow, that looks great!
Great job!
Man that really looks good. I have a question. On the back upper right corner of the fighting compartment, there is a bracket for what looks like a anntena base. Is that what it is? And, is that what is mounted on it? A while back, a question on the Elefant GB was asked about a bracket on the Elefant. Looks like the same bracket in the same place. Great job.
Beautiful job! the cavalier zimm, and the Tamiya tracks are both nice features to this Jagdpanther. For a fifteen year break, it didn’t take much to get you back into shape. Thanks for sharing with us. Semper Fi, mike
Thanks guys! All this positive feedback has really inspired me to finish this model up, and move on to the next project! Mathew9, yes, I believe that bracket is the base for an anntena. I will add one from stretched sprue at the end of the build, so I don’t break it off!
