jadgpanzer IV...

Looking for a good kit of this tank/SPG. Anyone have a thought on it? I have an E-25, with a couple other kits coming in the post. I love the above mentioned tank, and want a good kit of it. Need to know who produces the best offering so I can order one for me, and one for my son. He is getting quite the stash. 10 lits and counting. For a month I would say not bad.

Dragon makes a few; Italeri has a decent one; Tamiya’s is showing its age but might be good (cheaper?) for a youngster…Dragon’s are by far the best detailed, but don’t forget they’ll have the indy tracks…however you might be able to use a spare “rubber band” from a spare Tamiya/Academy PzIV kit.

I have the Tamiya IV L/70 Lang with Eduard PE set and resin steel roadwheels in the stash. Its a good looking kit and I believe the PE set will ad lots of missing details. Of course the rubber band tracks will have to go, but Im sure I can find a replacement set, ModelKasten maybe???

I’d steal some from an old DML Pz IV-based kit; they’d look just fine, or order some plastic indy link ones—I think Academy had a nice set for like, $11.00?

Listed at $2.99 + $2.86 shipping, for a whopping total of $5.85 at LuckyModel, but alas, out of stock at the moment.

Wow, killer price but how are the tracks themselves??

I have a set, but haven’t used them yet. I believe they represent the later “40cm” tracks. Definitely better than the rubber-bands, though they do need a little clean-up. Three sprue gates per link, two ejector pin marks and slight flash/mould seams, they’re not exactly Magic Tracks.

I think the DML Jagdpanzer IV A-O is a super kit. It has some nice extras like metal barrel and a small sheet of PE. I built the DML Jagdpanzer IV L/48 last month and really enjoyed how it came together. I also have the Italeri IV L/70 kit which looks pretty nice, but I suspect it may be a little difficult to find compared to Tamiya or DML.

Good luck on your search.

Thanks Gent’s!! One Tamiya, and one DML. Sounds good to me. Thanks for all the info. It will come in handy when I go to get them. The boy is really getting into this. He is slowly starting his LAV, then onto the other stuff he is wanting to do. Bought him some paints, and brushes, and if we are good this year, Santa may bring us a new airbrush!!! Rattle cans are getting old.

I think an AB was the one tool that improved my builds more than anything else. Though, I still have a long way to go. LOL Good luck to you and your son.

[#ditto] Last christmas when my dad got me an airbrush, even a really cheap one, th results are just incredible. Opens up whole new worlds with color variation/post/preshading.
