J7W3 Shinden, "Japanese Jet Ace" 1947

Hello folks, this is my Hasegawa Kyushu Shinden in 1/48. It is my version of the proposed turbojet-powered Shinden. I sort of consider mine to be a third generation variant, J7W3, with different canopy, vertical stabilizers and rudders and relocated landing gear. I finished the project in June but I’ve had numerous distractions and glitches delaying my post. I’m sorry that you’ll have to open the link to see it but that may be “corrected” soon too. I envisioned her theatre of operations as around northern Japan and the Korean peninsula.

Fantastic Build [tup][tup]. A really great “What If” model. Thanks for sharing.

Regards, Rick

Thanks for the kind words Rick. Gary

thats a fantastic build there. great job.

thanks Jeff! Of course, the farther you get from her, the better she looks. my plane, of course…
Gary

Very nice build, another great conversion of one of my favorite “what if” aircraft. Some day I’ll get around to building one for myself, until then thanks for sharing.

Nice one indeed! I think you beat Swanny to it… just! Funny how two people might be building the same weird subject at the same time. Check out his too, it’s going to be ‘different’ [8D]

Looks very sharp - I really like the canopy conversion. I’m aware of a couple of more of these convrsions in the works by people. I think we will be seeing a lot of J7W2s and J7W3s in the coming months.

Very nice work!
The photos are extremely realistic as well.

looks great tex!!! i love the weathering friend. top notch. later.

I appreciate all your nice comments guys. I kinda work in isolation, with no other modelers around to bounce ideas off or “show off” work together. So, it’s real good to hear positive comments from all you great model builders! Thanks a million. Gary

I hear that. These forums are a God Send.

Ok, that’s what the real airplane looks like, but where’s your model? [;)] Very authentic images! Really excellent.

Darren

That was a great idea, Tex. I’ve never seen any representations of the Shinden jet version. It looks great. We’ve got lots of German ‘what-ifs’ but nothing for Japan.

I started this build as the prototype that actually flew, days before the war’s end. A “freak” accident involving a hot lamp and close proximity to my primed Shinden put a stop to that. Wow, the top of the fuselage from the cockpit back melted and sagged down a bit. Then I decided to do the conversion that I’d been toying with in my head. One unforeseen challenge was the landing gear. Not needing the extreme ground clearance of the prop version, I wanted to shorten the stance. But then I realized that in order to keep the wheel/tire in the wheel well when retracted , I’d have to relocate their mounting positions inboard; same applied to the front gear. aarrghhh. But all in all, it turned out ok. I still want to build the prototype(bought another kit) and I have a more advanced version in mind with wings from an F-100 and, oh well, I’m getting carried away. You guys are great, Gary.

Awesome buils and pics also. I really love that heat damaged paint effect in back. Excellent!

Hi. I´m PACOPEPE, from Spain. I´d like to see your kit of Kyushu Shinden J7W3. I don´t know to see your images yet. Please, could you send them to me? . My email address is:

Thank you very much.

All the best

Foir some reason, I cant get the photos either…Harv

I think there’s a syntax error in the links-there was a square bracket missing from the first image tag (“[img]”) on each row. I’ve tried adding the bracket, in the quoted text, to see if it restores the links.

Aw, nuts-I previewed it, but still, no photos. Are the links still good?

This post is over 4yrs old that may be the problem.
