I want to replace the “bleed valve” regulator on my Iwata Smart Jet with a real regulator. I was thinking about buying one of these:

Would this work? Also, I read that I would need to buy new fittings for my airbrush (which is the Iwata Eclipse). Which fittings would I need to buy?
Thanks in advance.
One issue is what max pressure can you get from the Smart Jet. Regulators do experience a pressure drop even at low flow rates. Be sure there is enough overhead between max output of the stock compressor to allow for that drop and still get the pressure you airbrush at.
Shouldn’t be a problem, Don. The SmartJet pressure switch shuts off the motor at about 50psi.
Based on the specs, the regulator in the link should be fine. The Iwata hose should fit the 1/4" connection.
Don
Just an update for anyone not happy with the default (bleed valvle) regulator that comes with the smart jet. I ended up getting a mac valve attachement for my hose and it works great. The compressor shuts off when it’s supposed to and I can lower the air pressure without having the compressor run continuously because of the bleed valve.
Here’s a link to the mac valve.
