Iwata Silver Jet broken PSI dial, THANKS KIRK AT IWATA!!!

I could just shoot myself. I did a Primitive Pete and used a monkey wrench and pliers to swap my air hose from my Pashe to my Badger and over torqued the nut that is connected to the entire regulator assembly. This in turn pulled the PSI gauge up against the housing, cracking it so now it won’t work.

I will call Iwata in the morning and hopefully I can get a replacement gauge. Its a wacky size. 1" total diameter with a 3/8" NPT fitting (probably 9.5mm).

It not been my season for modeling. I have a long list of parts and paints I want to replace but so much is out of stock. Now to find a part that will probably need to come from Japan. If I have to, I could machine a new regulator housing to mate a SAE NPT threaded 2.5" standard gauge. I really love this compressor and would hate to Frankenstein it.

You can probably step the gauge out a little bit on a longer nipple and use a more available one. You might need to step the threads up or down. For that matter you can get the whole regulator and water trap for abouot $12 from Amazon. I bought a Point Zero to mount to the side of my paint booth, leaving the compressor regulator cranked up, fine tune at the booth. Water separates better the further from the compressor you get. In 1/1 our separators were 35 ft from the compressor room lol.

Well till you get a gauge just shoot by flow is all, set your regulator for good paint flow, you don’t really need to know the pressure, it’s either flowing right or it isn’t.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am considering just putting an extension off where the current gauge is and then using the regulator/water trap.

Thanks Kirk at Iwata. I called and he sent me a replacement dial right away.

That’s a nice end to a problem.

Good to hear and thanks for taking the time to post it, Scott.
