Dear Styrene Heads!
I just couldn’t keep myself from writing this post due to my new “toy” on the shelf. I have waited over two months for this compressor but finally it has just arrived!!!
From the begining:
I have been looking for new air source for some time. I have been using air cans and tested few cheapy-cheap comps with hardly good results. I went through few forums archives (including this one) trying to balance all of the pros and cons (costs).
I have just needed steady air with pressure regulator and reasonably quiet.
Finally I decided to go for Iwata but I didn’t make my mind to buy Smart Jet or pay few bucks more for Power Jet. I did take Power Jet Lite (instead Smart Jet) and why:
- Two pistons solution (more power and efficiency) -believing that it would be more pulsation proof
- Better pressure regulator (a proper one, not only pressure screw on water trap)
- Steel case - compact and protects the pipes/cables etc
- Only 50$ more expensive than Smart Jet
I did not go for Power Jet Pro as a major difference lays in air tank and 100$ more I don’t need as much air on long run
First impressions:
- It is (believe or not) pulsation free! At highest pressure (approx 60 psi) it has just slight pressure drop before compressor starts up. In lower values (10-50) there are not any pressure drops.
- It is quiet
- After few minutes of use it is not hot
- Nice and compact design confirmed in real life
Good companion for my Tamiya HG airbrush!
As I will test it more thoroughly I will share the results with you.
I am so happy!!! As a child
