Iwata Neo problems

I met a guy at the place that I work, who was having a problem with his Iwata Neo CN gravity fed airbrush. He had replaced the needle/nozzle with the wrong size initially, then came in to get the right parts. The problem he’s still having is that the paint won’t feed unless he loosens up the nozzle part just a bit. If he loosens it too much, he gets blowback into the cup. Any ideas of what’s going on?

I suspect maybe he is loosening the head rather than the nozzle, and the nozzle has been deformed into a slight trumpet shape. The Neo nozzle is very fragile. The space between the nozzle and head for air to exit from the Neo is very small. If the nozzle is deformed, it will choke off the air enough so that there isn’t enough to draw paint. Loosening the head increases this gap, but too much will cause blowback into the cup. A fresh nozzle might fix his problem.

Another possibility is that the rubber o-ring is pinched between the nozzle and body of the airbrush. See my review for a photo.

A mix up between the nozzle & nozzle cap would also cause a similar issue if the 0.35mm cap was being used with an 0.5mm nozzle - when these are used in combination there is virtually no air gap around the nozzle.

Thanks, y’all! I’ll follow up with him on those points.
