i've got problems

i’ve got about 20 kits on my shelf. i know that’s probably not too many compared to some of you but i’ve accumulated most of these in about 2 months. ever want to just do some quick builds without painting to get through your stash and move on? i’ve got about 30 1:72 tanks, most unpainted, from back when i wasn’t bothering with paint this summer. now that i take the time to paint+weather it’s taking me about 2 months per kit. [xx(]

that’s what I used to to when I was an absolute noob

I know the feeling. I’ve suddenly discovered Ebay! Wifes starting to give me the look. I’m cranking them out at something like 2-3 per year since I got back into the hobby. [V] I’ve got a few in various stages and hope to finish 4-5 this year. That won’t begin to dent the growing stash.

Most modelers start to accumulate kits after a few months. I started out only buying a kit after I had finished a kit. I now have over 300 kits sitting on the shelf and I still can’t stop buying as I am afraid that a kit will go OOP and I won’t be able buy it without spending a fortune. The quickest way to build through your stash is to build them out of the box. I’ve cut down on adding p/e and trying to correct kit errors and I am actually getting stuff finished. My problem now is to find a place to put the completed kits. Don’t worry, it will all seem normal very soon. [:D]

Years from now, many of the kits you bought recently will be considered “junk” by the bolt-counters. Today’s gotta haves are next year’s losers.

I still have an unbuilt “Kit of the Year” Lindberg T55/Ti67, followed a year or so later by the yowza ESCI T55.
Now we have the omigod Tamiya T55.
Now my old unbuilt T55 kits supposedly aren’t worth building into diorama wrecks.

Remember how ESCI braille were the best?

Now they - rereleased under Italeri - are supposedly “worthless” compared to Revell of Germany or Dragon.

Hehehe, yep, that’s been my mentality as well, and my favourite excuse [:D]

Not really “worthless.” Their M113 is still a respectable kit and their M60A1/A3 has some features that are superior to the Revell M60A3, and Esci also gave us an M60A2. The M48 series are still respectable kits.

I think Italeri has picked up the Esci torch and the M8 and DUKW I have are very respectable kits as well.

I had to get away from that problem. I didnt have enough storage room. So, I cleared the shelves and filled my trash can and spares box with the builds I did that werent that good and attacked the stash.
Now I just buy what I plan to build. The more deliberate approach keeps my interest in doing the model up and makes me motivated to build. And, since I dont blast money away on kits I dont build, I find justification to buy PE and AM parts.

Don’t worry, we’ve all got problems here, I’m afraid.
I’ve fallen into the “gotta have that new release - NOW” trap several times in the 5 months since I’ve returned to the hobby. That, combined with the fact that I have to join every group build that comes down the pike, has created a good sized stack in a short period of time. Like Tigerman, I have also recently been sucked into the E-Bay madness and ended up winning 3 kits a couple of weeks ago(although I’ve had one of those E-Bay horror stories you’ve heard about with one of them - how I can get a kit from Hong Kong quicker than one from New Hampshire I’ll never know!!). I keep telling the wife that I am going to build them all, but I too am starting to get the stink eye and might actually be in danger of getting my credit cards pulled !!LOL
Just drink the Kool-Aid, lay back and enjoy the ride!!!

I’ve got kits building up too, buying them much faster than I can build them. I’m also buying the detail sets for the kits.
