Hi All, can anybody tell be if the Italeri’s Opel blitz kit no 216 is any good?[:D]
It seems as if is is an oldish kit and I wonder if there is a better kit out there that is not too expensive. does anyone else besides heller and Italeri make kits of the opel blitz .[:(]
Hey Timbo, I can’t fully answer your question, but I’m sure the big boys don’t make one. I was aware of the Italeri kit. Some British outfit might have one, but it will hit you in the wallet. Try and do a search on Greatmodels and see what you come up with.
Those are the only two companies that make one. I’d go with the italeri one, since I hear bad stuff about heller.
I havve the kit (havent built it yet) and It doesnt look too bad. Its just a little older and with a slight bit of work it should turn out good.
I have built two of the Italeri kits and they build well and detail is a little soft in some areas, the cab fit is good just take your time and check the fit twice befor gluing.
the Italeri Opel blitz is a good kit, the heller one is the italeri one reboxed so is the Revell one
there cheap and the only plastic game in town
with resin. there are loads of conversions for the italeri blitzs ans theres an eastern europe kit of the 4X4 opel blitz but its pricey (if its still being made)
the Italeri Opel blitz Maultier is a good kit but the tracks need softening
I share Stipps and Captain Caveman’s experience, allthough I have to admit that it was like 20 years since I built the kit.
The kit is straightforward and goes together well + gives room for lots of improvment and detailing like your mobil workshop.
I say go for it, sounds as if you allready have a nice diorama idea
Don’t have the kit myself, but I’ve seen it built up a few times. Like their Maultier, it’s the only plastic game in town, and really is not that bad. SInce you’re useing it as a base for a conversion anyways, I’d just go with it.
I’ve built both the Blitz and the Maultier and have the Radio Van. All are good kits but old and need some detail work. However they come out nice and leave lots of room for super-detailing, especially the engine and in the case of the radio van the interior of the “box”[:p]. I refer you to the radio van featured on the Missing Links web site as an example.[:D]
Don’t let the age of the kit scare you. 'Till DML or AFV or one of the resin companies come out with one it’s the only game in town.[:)]
