Italeri?

Hi guys. I have this 1/72 Italeri Elefant kit, most of the parts don’t fit right and some parts are missing or not the right size[:(!]. I’m just curious if anyone had problem with Italeri kits with part’s not fitting right, missing ect, or did I just get a bad kit. I’ve never encountered this problem before lol.

I have only built their 1/35 kits. I like their many eclectic subjects, but on occasions have found some of their kits stubborn in the fit. Sorry, can’t speak for their 1/72 kits. Good luck.

Haven’t built that kit in 25 odd years so I can not really tell! What appears to be missing? Italeri’s kits are often slightly over-complicated, with too many parts, and fit can sometimes suffer from all that…

I can only tell you that their T-34s, their Shermans and SdKfz 251 kits are good, even very good…

The Italeri Elefant is the former Esci 1/72 scale Elefant kit. All of the latest Italeri 1/72 scale armor kits (in the green border boxes) are former Esci kits. Some were quite good like the M4A1 and M113, others were decent like the Abrams and others weren’t much to speak of. I’m not much of a German WW2 armor builder though.

You can obtain replacement parts from the Testors.com website.

Don,t like em the,re real DOGs.
Occasionally they bring out a diamond in the rough.
One good point is the price (great for conversions) make sure you have a decent spares box for these kits.
Gotter.[:)]

I’ve never really had a problem with Italeri kits, and I’ve built all but three of their kits in their inventory, including all former Esci kits. I never had much problem with their Elefant. I think it came out pretty good, especially sincve this kit is 26 years old:

I’m sorry to hear about your difficulties. Maybe it was just that one kit. Did you get it second hand or from a Hobby shop?

Nice looking tank hunter you have there Duke.

I built the Pzkpfw IV j and the Sdkfz 251/1 D, and I havnt found anything wrong with it, infact they were the best kits 1/72 that I have built.

I got this kit from a hoppy shop online, I believe I paid about $6-8 for it. I’ve got about 80% of it done at this time, missing the crews hatch though, I guess I’ll make it out of balsa wood. I’m sure I’ll buy Italeri kits in the future, If you guys say it’s good, then I’ll buy it - because you guys are experts[:)]. Thanks

For a few dollars more, the Revell of Germany 1/72 scale armor kits are vastly superior.

I don’t mind paying few extra bucks for good quality. Thanks for the info, Rob Gronovius.[8D]

Thanks Mark!

I second Ron’s motion: Revell/Germany 1/72 scale kits are better. So far they haven’t made an Elefant, but I’m sure that is just a matter of time. I have a few more Revell/Germany kits to start on. I can’t wait; I just have to clear my workbench!
