Santa is getting his list together. Dragon Ju-88 is on for sure. Need one more. Was going to get Tamiya’s Betty because it was an important plane and I have a mask for it. Then I saw a very good review for Italeri’s Sunderland which I believe is a relatively new kit. It’s 1/72 scale and not cheap - almost the same as the Betty. But the Sunderland was a really neat plane. No interest in the Airfix - I think that came from the 50s and can imagine the build. Anyone built the Italeri?
Its not in my build list, but i did find a note on the Sunderland trust website. They say its the first kit to have the correct hull shape and MG positions.
Found a preview on Hyperscale. Not much info but a few images.
That is very tempting. I just bought an Italeri (Hobby Boss) 1/72 B-17 MKI which I was going to dress up in FAA colors - the early Forts had lovely lines even if they lacked guns. But I sure like the looks of the Sunderland. Bit pricely and I do have a PBY I haven’t built, but it looks like a really interesting build with possibility of some serious weathering. Thanks for the tip on the build - I missed that one.
I have this kit in my stash and it looks lovely. Cant say how it will build but cant see how it will be hard to build
