I’m not a huge fan of Italeri models, and this one has some major fitment issues IMO…but all the cussing, drinking and fiddling (and Super Glue) paid-off with a 2nd place award at this year’s Blue Angels Model Fest, so I was happy.
I tinted the cockpit windows above the seats with a mixture of glosscote and green food coloring–came out translucent and looks okay to me! I scratch-built a few add-ons like the refueling boom antennas and wiring, fuselage side rail, and nose-mounted search light. All the sensors are covered with tiny pieces if AFV Club Iridescent film.I also heated and “sagged” the rotor blades. [:D]
No Bish, the Beer and Super Clue are clearly two-different sized bottles LOL.
I tacked the completed rotor head with blades onto a long piece of scrap sprue with a drop of super glue…then, spinning it slowly, held a heat gun beneath it and SLOWLY allowed them to sag; stopping periodically to allow them to cool and re-harden so as to not over-do it.
Inside the cargo compartment, I took the time to scratch build a cargo pallet with crates and barrels, complete with cargo net covering–but sadly, you can barely see it in there.
