I have just ordered an Italeri 1/48 F-18E kit from Sprue Brothers and I would like to know what things I should be aware of when I build it. How well is the detail done? How well does fitting go? What are the kits pro’s and con’s. If anyone has built this kit please let me know.
Another good site for kit reviews is, www.modelingmadness.com . Scott Van Aken is a VERY good modeler himself and others also present reviews on his site.
Did a little research into the Italeri kit and from what I found the Revell-Germany kit is exactly the same as the Italeri 1/48 F-18E just reboxed with Revell label.
The Italeri kit I am trying to find info on is the 1/48 F/A-18E Super Hornet kit no# 2611. What I really want to know is does this kit come with or without cockpit detail molded on parts. I have been searching for hours and there is no review online anywhere for this kit. So if anyone here has built this kit I would really like to get some info about the detail…especially the cockpit.
Personally, I’d say don’t waste your time with the Italeri kit. The Revell is far superior, the Hasegawa likely even better. Revell/AG boxed both the Italeri kit and also the newer, better Revell/US kit. The boxing of the US kit has a VX-9 jet on the boxtop but the built-up photos I believe were still of the Italeri. With the Revell and Hasegawa kits available, there really isn’t anything about the Italeri kit to recommend it for anything.
Here’s a link to a build up of the 1/72 version, the 1/48 has all the same problems and corrections required. If you’re a masochist, knock yourself out…
Thanks for the advice but it’s too late, I have already bought the kit. Still have not gotten any answer to my main question. Does the 1/48 kit have molded cockpit detail???
And YES! I am a masochist!!! Why do you think I keep buying Revell kits!!! I like models that challenge my skills.[}:)]
