Italeri 1/35 Dodge 3/4 Anti-Tank WC

Has anybody had any experience with the Italeri 1/35 scale Anti-Tank 3/4 ton Dodge kit. (number 245)???

Basically, I’m curious if it comes with all the stuff to build the basic Dodge Weapons Carrier 51/52 (? I think is the correct designation).

I’ve been looking for the old Testors kit, but it seems to be eluding me (so far). I think this is the old Testors kit, just reboxed/reissued and given an AT gun. So, thought I might go for this kit, but I want to build a ragtop support vehicle (the non-anti-tank version).

Also does it come with any figures–especially a driver figure?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I built this and the WC50 BEEP from the Airfix releases, the plain beep had a very very thick canvas tarp, don’t remember if the carrier had it as well… but the Italeri kit no 237, 3/4ton truck WC51 ‘BEEP’ is sure to be periodicly re-released… or ebayed…(g) Try Armourama, French BEEP http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=615 for a detailed build report & tons of links for more info: or http://www.greatmodels.com/~smartcart/cgi/display.cgi?item_num=AFV35S15 for the AFV club versuion enjoy Jon UK

Based on the kits I’ve done from Italeri/Testors… figures are NOT normally included with the kits, even if the box art depicts them (see the 1/35 DUKW w/105 Howizter kit)

The M6 GMC from Italeri/Testors/Peerless doesn’t contain parts to make a correct Dodge Weapon Carrier WC 51/52. The spare tire configuration was different and the bed was different too. The M6 kit doesn’t contain the WC 51/52 parts.

You absolute best bet is to get one of the 1/35 AFV Club/Skybow kits of the Dodge Weapon Carrier. One of the best engineered 1/35 kits available, IMHO. Makes the Testors/Italeri Dodges look like Lego trucks.

No driver figs are included with any of these. Maybe scrounge one from the newer Tamiya Willys MB kit?

There are significant differences between this kit and the regular weapons carrier. The rear body has a moulded on reinforcement plate for the gun mount and the ammo locker lids in each corner are different. The “wooden” back rests are smaller and it lacks the canvas cover, but as the other poster mentioned, this is very thick. Unless cost is an issue or you really , REALLY want the Italeri/Testors/Max kit, I’d advise you to get the AFV Club/ ex Skybow kit as it is a quantum leap better than this oldie.

As for figures, the old Max and Airfix issues did include some but were so crude by current standards they would be unusable.
