Monday morning blues here at work. Sigh. It is nothing that a few hours at the bench couldn’t cure.
Back to work.
I hear ya, brother. It’s the same for me here as well. Clearly whoever invented the concept of “work” wasn’t a model builder.
Yup.
Happily retired after 40 years and 2 months, although I liked my job, I always considered work to be the eternal foe of the dedicated hobbyist.

I can relate to the thread topic and patrick206’s reply. There are many days I wake up and say to myself, “I’d rather be building.” only to have to go to work. On 02 January 2016, I’ll be hanging up my gun belt and parking my cruiser for the last time to start retirement on 03 January after 31 1/2 years in policing. Time to start thinning out the stash!

I retired recently. 35 years on the job. I have been warned by the “Sergeant Major” we are rapidly running out of display space. That’s a good thing.
good for you Murph! I have almost finished 27 years on as of now… 4 1/2 more and I’ll park my radio car by yours and be done as well. Looking forward to that day.
Just had a week off after finishing at my last job and about to start a new one. And I would much rather be able to spend the day at the bench.
I miss the job, I miss the camraderie, I don’t miss anything else…

Congrats Murph…and Stik your’s is right around the corner. For me I have 6 more years and I will be able too spend as much time at the bench as I want!!! Work is definetly one of those things we could do without but then we could not afford to do what we love. I am lucky because I really enjoy my job. I get to see our country from a different point of view.

Thanks. I have gone from working on a USAF base to a prison. So not as much fun, but certainly not as noisey.
I should be 2 weeks into my 4 month lay-off (seasonal work)…but with temps around 60…we’re working till the ground freezes solid.

No Monday blues for me…I work Tue to Sat[:)]. So when most people grumble I sleeeeeep [:D]. But comes Saturday I am the sucker at work. But there is always Monday [:D][:D]
I had a work related accident on 5/5/10. In short, I have TBI Traumatic Brain Injury. I have had the Monday blues for 4 years until I built my first model, the old Monogram P-61 Blackwidow. That was my first thread here on FSM.
Although I am retired at 49, I enjoy each day because I get to build models almost everyday when I’m capable. If I couldn’t do this, I too would feel the Monday blues. Thank you so much for this thread of yours, it has given me a whole new perspective of my new hobby.

Greetings, Toshi. Firstly, I am really sorry to hear about your TBI. Life can serve up some really cruel things to people. I am glad to hear that you have found solace in scale modeling though. That is a very good thing! I am also glad that this thread has helped you. That makes this thread so much more worthwhile.
There is always a silver lining in things, isn’t there. We just have to look for it.

Right you are, Bakster. I’m 74 and have been retired for quite a few years, and have some serious health issues, but fortunately I am still quite functional and able to enjoy modeling, which has kept me in good mental health and attitude for a long time. I can still turn out decent quality models, and will keep doing so as long as possible.
Greetings, Cadet Chuck. That is so true about the mental health and attitude aspect of it. It helps me in the same way. This is the primary reason why I came back to the hobby. Now that I am back, I can’t imagine not doing it, I just enjoy it so much.
