after chatting with keyworth yest i spent last night and this morning searching for some info. well i have found it. mpm has, it seems, plans to release a b-18 injection kit. it is enough to bring a tear to this a/c modelers eye. (sniff) an actual b-18 kit. (sniff) after reading some more i see that there is also a conversion kit for a 1/72 scale b-18. there isnt much info on that though. i just thought i would share the (sniff) good news. i’m so (sniff) happy. (sniff)
That’s great news mate. I’m not particularly interested in the subject, but I’m sure there are heaps of people out there who have been waiting a long time for this. I’m getting the feeling that you’re one of them. Is there a particular reason that you’re so interested in this subject?
I take it that you never wanted to build the vacuform version of the B-18. I have an old EXECUFORM that I just keep itching to build. I thought I might rob my old 1/72nd DC-3 for parts like wings, stabilizers, engines, and landing gears.
daniel the b-18 was used by the usaac at the time of the pearl harbor attack. there were a number of them damaged and destroyed durring the attack. that is my reason for the quest.
splash would you believe that the execuform kit is the one that truely started this quest. i hadnt seen a kit before that and ordered it imediately. unfortunatly that was in feb and still no kit. this injection kit is just what i needed.
rick this will be by rumor a 1/72 kit.
rik stressful is right. the wait is killing me.
scott there isnt much mind anymore to mess with. lost that and not sure i want to find it again.
Glad for you! a few years back, I would have jumped with joy at that bit of news… Indeed in 1984, I built all injection models of all available US bombers, and even started scratchbuilding a 1/72 Valkyrie… A Bolo would have been a nice addition to my collection of B-10, B-17, B-24, B-25, B-26, B-29, B-36, B-47, B-52 and B-1b…
Congrats Joe!! I too have been looking for a Bolo. And in my scale too!! Now lets pray to the styrene powers for a 1/72 B-23!! (Did you know this plane was considered for the Doolittle raid, but was turned down as being to large!!)
Maybe they {Execuform} moved or went out of business. It has been a long time since I’ve seen any advertisements from them. Personally, I wish that I could get all that in 1/48th at a price that I could afford. I have’nt seen a B23 since World Airways had one a a show in Madera Ca. some years ago. Unfortunately, the interior had been converted by Howard Hughs to an executive transport with telephones and plush arm chairs . I hope you find one [B-18] some where soon.[BG]
If anyone is interested in contacting Execuform here is the last address I had when I order their Hall amphbian. Execuform, P.O. Box 347, Cedar Glen, CA 92321.
As far as I know they are still in business. I have known the owner for many years and he is very honest so if youy are having troubles contact him let me know.
oh and also thanks to tenz from hyperscale, the conversion kit for the b-18 is from combat models. although they dont list it keep up on them they could rerelease it.
fightnjoe,
Good grief man, pull yourself together! I went through the same thing when Hasagawa announced that they were going to issue an A-4 M in 1/48th scale. I thought this hobby was supposed to relax us. Oh well we can relax until the next exciting announcement.
The Combat Models conversion kit for the B-18 is more than likely the old Airmodel conversion kit so you might look around for thaat same kit under the Airmodel label. You will need a C-47 model for the primary components as, if my memeory has not failed me, the conversion kit consists of a fuselage and the associated glass areas.
