Israeli BTR 152

I just got ICM’s 1/72 BTR 152 V and wondering if there are any Israeli sites that have any information on Israeli BTR 152s. The kit comes with markings for an Israeli BTR 152

You can try www.israeli-weapons.com I was in a hurry when I checked it and only saw one very poor photo. Perhaps with more time you can find what you’re looking for.

Unfortunately the web has very little information on this vehicle. John Myszka’s book, " Israeli Military Vehicles" has even a small amount of information. From what I’m seeing these vehicles were captured and put to use in rapid service during the war agains Egypt, Syria and Lebanon all of which were supplied by the Russians. I would say it’s easy to just build it up, paint it in Israeli colours and mark it up. Maybe put a few bullet holes in the vehicle or the previous colour kind of showing through to show a quick preparation for battle by the IDF. Other than that, even my sources are limited on this.

the only info that I’ve been able to gather is that they had 600 of these some of which remained as APCs and the remaineder were turned into weapons carriers and AA vehicles. I’ll just make a plausible model of a gun truck since there is very little info. thx,

Sorry to come in so late in the game. I saw one picture in a “Born in Battle” magazine with a BTR in Egyptian colors but with Black "X"s all over it in use by Israel. Trouble is the photo was between the 1965 era and 1967 so I don’t know if it was a BTR 150 or 152. I build 1/72 and would like to do this model myself. If you find any info please let me know. Joel

Try Google LATRUN, thats the Israeli military vehicle museum, and they have some really interesting kit.

Terry.

You can always try one of the two above links. Both deal with IDF modeling and there might be someone who can help you. Also, the second link does have some pretty cool IDF models.
