For a break in routine I decided to custom paint an old handheld video console. It’s going to have a camouflage pattern on it with custom decals. So out comes the silly putty.
And looking at this beast of this ancient handheld I realized a single egg won’t do it. I want to be able to set the pattern at one time and then paint it in one go. There’s just too much surface area for one egg of putty. The solution is of course simple. Buy another egg of Putty!
Now given the size of the original you might think a second one still wouldn’t be enough. However, my confidence is relatively high that the second egg should take care of it. [:D]
The stuff goes for $.99 at most bargain stores, so it sure won’t break the bank to stoc up… [;)]

I have often wondered when you paint an object using Sily Putty as a masking agent, how do you clean or dispose of the Putty. I have used regular modeling clay as masking media but afterwards the paint wouldn’t blend with the putty so it had to go into the round file. Is that the case here?
I have two ‘double doses’ of Silly Putty that I switch off project to project…or occasionally use together, when an extra large or complex project calls for it. I love that you can just knead the old paint into it (at least, the Tamiya acrylics I use) and it’s essentially ‘clean’ and ready to use again. I usually get about 2 years out of each batch before it’s grungy enough to need replacing. [:D]
