Is the Revell Spaceship Two the same aircraft?

as the one Richard Branson flew into space recently?

I picked one up from the clearance aisle at Hobby Lobby years ago for $7.50. The “regular” price was $27.99, but no one buys a kit there unless it’s 40% off.

Hi;

I am NOT sure But I believe it is. The whole ship is different!

I think you can use the kit for Spaceship Two. The markings are probably different though, so as they say, check references.

The one in the kit is the VSS Enterprise. This is the one that crashed in 2014 killing one of the crew. The curret one is the VSS Unity. It seems to have a different colour scheme on the vertical surface as well as a different serial and the name.

Thanks, yeah I knew one of the ships itself crashed after launch. Glad it worked for them.

I was looking at the kit yesterday at the hobby shop. I think to make Spaceship 2 into Spaceship 3 would just be a matter of paint.

…so who will be crazy enough to do the Stratolaunch?

Stratolaunch | Scaled Composites

That is one improbable looking behemoth of an airplane!

Nope, nope, nope, not gonna do it. Pinkie promise.

It will be interesting to see what the service life ends up being for a composite aircraft flying at altitudes where UV exposure is going to be much greater. Composites don’t usually react well to prolonged UV exposure.

I fully intend to do th whole kit and display it with the two hooked together. A big Rutan fan.

Good grief, the wingspan would work out to 32" at 1/144 scale! I would like a Proteus in 1/72 myself. I had started a Boomerang, but my lack of skills foiled me. Maybe that will be another resurrected build in the future.
