So here I sit at the modeling desk applying some putty to my Vac SB-2 when I reach for the Acetone Based fingernail polish remover and IT’S GONE!!! I yell across the hallway to my daughter’s room to find that she used it up removing her fingernail polish! I am flabbergasted, like, what’s next? Will I find my wife mopping the floor with my future or sewing buttons on a blouse with my invisible thread!!! I just don’t know if I can go on. I would wander away in baffled amazement but I think I superglued my elbow to the desk.

LOL,
Kids!!! Leave it to them to start using products for their intended purpose. Next thing you know, she’ll be using toothpicks to pick her teeth! I can’t understand it!
LOL,
WHAT! You can pick your teeth with those things??? What will they think of next?
WaaaHaHa hee Hee chuckle-snort
Phew…Ok I’m alright.hee hee
Swanny,
Just think, they may even use your toothbrush sander to actually brush their teeth! [:0] I can’t stand the thought. [V]
Mike
thats why i buy double of everything, just for that cause, my mom is using my stuff all the time.
I feel your pain, Swanny! [:0]My kids take my white glue, my tweezers, my toothpicks, masking tape, X-acto knives, straightedge, paintbrushes -whatever’s not nailed down!
Nothing’s safe anymore! I’m lucky they OCCASIONALLY return the stuff when they’re through (if there’s any left!) [V]

In my house it’s just the opposite. I am constantly raiding my wifes stash of those little make-up sponges ( great for applying Pastels ), Panty Hose ( makes great paint strainers ), Nail Polish remover ( smooths putty ), & misc. stuff like nail files, clippers, etal. Whenever she can’t find said items, she has learned to head straight for my work-bench.
I have no kids … now I remember one of the reasons why!
I’m with Music City. I don’t have kids either and every day someone somewhere gives me reason to raise my eyes to the heavens and praise the lord (or whoever it is up there!).
Let Swanny’s words be words of contraception advice to all you younger modellers!
How you going getting that elbow off the desk Swanny?
Bob
OUCH! That was skin!
I have to forgive my daughter cause she is a modeler also - she builds Sci-Fi.
If that’s the case, just wait until she’s fixing a seam or doing her nails and stel her nail polish remover [}:)]
Sci-Fi. . . Ah a discriminating modeler.[;)]
i just cant understand the thinking of kids these days. my kids use the masking tape for unbelievable reasons. they use it to hang pics in their rooms. really unbelievable.

My daughter when she was three used half a (new) roll of Tamiya masking tape to decorate the legs of our dining room table because she liked the colour!
My wife is also constantly borrowing my Xacto knives and using them to cut up boxes and so on. The knives are always returned, but I only discover that the new blade that I put in the other night is blunt when I’m trying to trim something delicate and vital. [banghead]
Cheers
Darren
This has to be an argument for secure storage…
…like a mini modelling vault!!!
Or just secure storage of the kids instead!!!
My youngest keeps nicking the Blutack I use for masking.
Karl
lmao…[(-D]
I’ve got a pretty substantial set of modeling tools - I’m probably a bit OCD about it all - a specific place for everything - that way I always know where it is. But those horrible folks who share my house (my wife and kids) often “borrow” my tools and THEY DON’T PUT THEM BACK!!!
Drives me in-freakin-sane!!!
I’m thinking about installing electrified barbed wire, moats full of crocodiles, and minefields.
And if it continues, I’ll get serious!!!
Actually I found shutting the door worked quite well!!
Nuff said about that. Encourage it at all costs, AT…ALL…COSTS!!! [:)]
