Going to get this thread going since no one else has started one for it. Yesterday 10/12 IPMS Orange County held their annual contest.
Thank you for posting the pictures. I really like the SR-71 with the deployed chute. Getting that to look good (chute) must have tried the patience!
Thanks for sharing your photos. Looks like a lot of variety of really good work.
Thank you for sharing pics from the show! Looks like they had a good turn out and from what I can see, some top notch builds!
Were you able to get or hear final model count?
Happy Modeling,
Mike
Wow, that dioramas reminds me of a Letterman.
WOW! That street scene diorama is a masterpiece. Sooooo much to look at, and masterfully done in all aspects.
Third batch, will respond to comments when i get home as doing it through the phone is a bit of a challenge.
Fantastic entries across the board! Really liked the Albatross with the polka-dot pattern.
Another round of great pics and that street dio, is unreal… Wow
Thank you for sharing!
Happy Modeling,
Mike
The gigantic street diorama was indeed a Bob Letterman project, which was the last one he was working on before he passed away. A group of friends worked to complete it in his honor.
They need a bespoke dolly for that thing though, as it looked perilously dangerous to move.
Wonderful to see all this work- thank you for posting these pictures.
Not my build but they did a very good job on it
I heard it was over 120 entrants and over 500 entries
Thank you for adding that, I was not aware of the modeler’s name but did hear the story. That is something would love to see done more, either by a group of individuals or from clubs.
Thanks for posting. Looks like it was a great show. What is the 4 engine NMF bomber with the pointy glazing in the second batch?
I did that same s-2t turbo tracker cal fire conversion - I built #70. At the time it was stationed about 4 miles from my house in Ramona, CA
Keavdog, the big pointy plane is the Republic XF-12 Rainbow, a prototype long range recon aircraft. It was sleek and fast, but operational requirements changed as they often do to render a promising design obsolete.
That’s not an S-2, its an F7F. Not 100% sure if seen tanker #70 any of the times I have flown into KRNM but have seen a fair share there, even been in the runup while they sortied.
Did not scroll back far enough, that’s on me
Here she is. Great looking bird. Also made the cover of the journal
