I’m trying to find a good kit of an A-6 Intruder, to make for my Dad and all I can find is a poor quality Hasegawa 1/72 kit that I’ve tried before. I would like to find something in 1/48. Any recommendations?
Monogram made a decent 1/48 scale A-6 as well as an EA-6B several years ago. You might be able to find them on e-bay. I have them both and they were easy to build with excellent results when finished. Good luck on your search.
The best A6 in 72nd has to bee the Fujimi series released in the mid '80’s .
Nothing else comes close
The only thing Ive seen in 1/48 is monograms which id pretty good OOB unfortunatly its discontinued and while it can be found on Ebay it tends to go rather steep usually $45 and up. Ive heard rumors of a re issue. I hope this turns out to be the case. Should help bring back down these over inflated prices. But I guess people will pay for what they want and when thats the only thing in the market…
yeah, I’m hoping for a reissue of that monogram kit too. I still occasionally kick myself for not picking that up when it was out. So if anybody from Monogram is listening in…
I was lucky enough to run across a 1/48 Hasegawa/Revell in a shop in Okinawa, so I went home and got my yen and picked it up. Looks to be a nice kit. Some raised panel lines, but I don’t worry about that too much. One of these days I’ll get around to building it up, with a full load of ordnance slung under the wings.
Fujimi did an A6-A years ago. It’s still in the box, so I can’t say how accurate or detailed it is.
The Fujimi 1/48 A-6A kit is a child of the 60’s. Its sort-of accurate in the major shapes, but detail is minimal and not very accurate. It was an amazing kit in its day, and not a bad start for a desktop model today.
Long out of production, a swap-type venue is probably the only place you’ll find one. Don’t pay over $10 US for it though.

Didn’t Revell Germany rebox that kit a couple years ago ? Or am I just hallucinating ?
