The issue of FSM I got is amazing. Aaron Skinner did a ton of articles on weathering techniques. :pinched_fingers:

@Tim_Kidwell1 I got the abrasive cleaning disk because of your tip on FS weekly. Cleaned my files right up. BTW. How did you know I tapped them to try to clean them? LOL.

We were very proud of that issue, although it did cause a stir among readers. We went back and forth on it for a long time and then that actual doing was a serious haul. Aaron was a trooper through it all.

Excellent! Those rubber abrasive cleaners were a revelation to us at FSM when we found out about them.

What “stir” did it cause? Did some people disagreed with methods?

Some readers didn’t like having an entire issue devoted to weathering techniques.

I think I remember that. You know the old saying though…“You can please some of the people half of the time…”

Understandable. But I think it’s well done. So thank you for the issue.

I remember that well but I think there are quite a few of us that didn’t comment but were very pleased with that issue. I personally picked up a few techniques that I’d never tried before. There’s always going to be detractors who are vocal. The rest of us say carry on.

I wouldn’t complain if you dedicated an entire issue to finishing automobiles and I don’t model them. But there will be some who will. Carefully peaks over Tim’s shoulder do see the outline for the next issue.

I remember when you devoted an entire issue to Sci-Fi, people lost their minds! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I’m going to say that they’re fuddy-duddies that should be grateful for such a great magazine. I, for one, particularly enjoyed that issue, especially the bit about applying watercolor pencils wet with a brush - for all the pencils I have, I never thought about that technique…

I concur with this!

I’m not wanting to hijack this thread, but I wanted to post these comments so @Tim_Kidwell1 can take the feedback back to the editorial group as positive feedback on that issue.

Also, I’m looking forward to trying out my Siberian Kolinsky brushes, so many thanks!

Not so much on finishes, but they did dedicate an entire Special Issue to Contest Cars…

Hey guys, thanks for all the positive comments. I really appreciate it. I’ve been in publishing 25 years, and you learn very early on to do what you do and adhere to the mission. But we definitely don’t want to hijack the thread and I totally didn’t mean for this to turn into a bigger thing. Just commenting on how proud we were of the Jan/Feb 2025 issue. Enjoy!

THANKS AGAIN FSMMM

I love all the back issues in the shop, and will try and buy more of those because they are a lot cheaper than the books! The Vallejo weathering is my first weathering set ever, so expect a lot of questions for me about how to use that. And the putty…I don’t know quite what to do with it yet
Anyways, thanks a TON and really appreciate this kind gift card offer

The silly putty is great for using when airbrushing or spray painting camouflage curves and provides for a ‘soft’ line. It’s also great for pulling up comic strip panels!

Oh wow. Haven’t thought about that for quite some time.

April gift card purchase arrived today. Just in the nick of time, prior to potential Canada Post strike at midnight tonight.

Spent a little extra. Thanks FSM!

Cheers,
Mark
