I have no problem hosting a GB for trans port aircraft if people are interested but it probably won’t start till early 2014 as I believe I just filled my table up. Silly me. But I still would like to run it around another GB to let people do crossovers.
Sounds great. Transports and radial engines make a perfect pair. The earliest that could start it though would be November depending on how soon I get my table cleared.
The carrier GB is running untill the end of this year and EVERY single american carrier plane of WW2 had a radial engine. Which leads to the point that every entry in this GB will have either a jet engine or a radial…
Paired with the Butcher Bird GB it makes a good GB for radial engines impossible right now…
Be aware that i will includ EVERYTHING that is powered by a radial engine in my GB though…
I was just talking to eagle about this. Seeing as we have the D-Day GB starting up and next year is also the 70th anniversary of Market garden, there is some potential for cross overs there, at least regards C-47’s and Allied gliders. Given the crop of new GB’s starting up in the next few months, it might be a good idea to wait until the new year so to not flood it to much. But its defiantly a god idea and nice to see you guys knocking these ideas around.
Will defiantly be nice to have you along on one or both. And I know a lot of the armour guys are still busy with Steel Cats, hence my timing for the half track.
Looking forward to seeing the Tiger, the Jagdpanther was a really nice build…
I wouldn’t say it would be impossible in an emergency. The largest gun the 251/4 was used to tow was the 10.5cm leFH 18 which weighed just short of 2 tons. Towing something like an 88 would probably cause major damage to the rear of the 251. I am guessing you have a standard 251 rather than a /4, in which case it should also be considered that the specialised towing 251 had a strengthened towing pintle.
One idea would be to have the 251 pulling the gun, with Infantry and the Air Force gun crew all pushing the gun as well.
Eric, I look forward to seeing that build. I haven’t built any of my AFV 251’s yet, so will be watching closely.
Good posting Bish, easy to forget that a new forum member is walking in blind on some of the goings-on in here. You look like you have a busy dance card right now… should I now be booking you for 2015??
I think after the end of all this, I am going to take a leaf out of Eric’s book and sit back and enjoy other’s GB for a while. And try not to join to many at once while I am at it. So 2015 is currently blank.
I had a thought the other night. I realize the schedule is pretty full right now, but what about a Cold War GB? Could even be broken down if wanted (ie Cold War Fighters, Cold War tanks, etc…)
you could do a german ww2 FLAK HT and kill 2 ducks with one build.
hey bish
as if i don’t have enough i could go for the STUKAS GB as i have a revell D in 1/48 in the stash, definitely the AA GB (like the badge) which will be something modern probably an LAV or SA-9 or 1/72 SA-10 (warwheels) but maybe a ZSU-23/4 or SA-6 and HALFTRACK GB as i have a shelf queen us mortar
someone suggested a CARGO PLANE GB and i have a pair of promodeller JU-52s in the stash and a FIRE/EMT GBand i will be picking up the modern german 1/24 firetruck (a bit out of my comfort zone but it is a truck)
i won’t get to any of these until sept after IPMS NATIONALS up the road from my abode. plus two club demos to prep for. not to mention the 7 GBs i’m in now but should get 3 or 4 of those done this month.
Sounds like your going to be as busy as me wayne. I have decided to put the Halftrack GB back until 1st march, and the Stuka GB won’t start until 1st May, so that that should keep my GB’s spread out a bit. Of course, it all depends on what GB’s other come up with. I am have to put the will power into over drive.
I gave some thought to the Transport GB and thought the only kit I had was the Italeri Me 323, but I really don’t have the space for many large builds. Then I was talking to Eagle and he mentioned the Ju 52 and that reminded me that I recently got a DFS 230 kit that I have been looking for about 3 years. So if the time frame is right, I may well build that. I have always wanted to do one of those on Eben Emael.
As for the Duck Hunter badge, after you gave me the idea for the name, I had to do something along those lines.
I hope that fire truck/EMT GB takes off, I don’t build those sort of subjects myself, but will be nice to see more none military builds.
Sub, the Cold War GB sounds interesting. I will keep my eyes open for it and hopefully I can squeeze that in.
