Just thought I would spark up some conversation about something that has puzzled me ever since i saw the first publicty shots of U.S.S. Voyager and got my first kit. Does it not look like that the entire inner portion of the 'saucer section"/primary hull separates? I know none of the literature states this and i know that there was an auxilliary craft mounted on the saucer bottom that was never shown. . Maybe there is also a small emergency star drive for the saucer. Any thoughts on this?
From what I have been able to find, Voyager, and others in her class, were designed to be able to land as one unit, negating the need for saucer separation (Condition Blue). I hope this helps.
True it is capable of surface landing and take off it was just the fact that the seam around the edge has alwayss puzzed me…
It’s possible it may be there for emergency separation in the event of an emergency, but I could be wrong.
I was thinking something similar just wondered if anyone else ever had the same thought.
