Anybody used this stuff: Intermediate Gauzy Agent Shine Enhancer? It is supposed to be the recommended clear coat for AK Xtreme Metal paint. If so, what do you use to clean it out of your airbrush? I haven’t been able to find that info anywhere I’ve searched on the 'net. Thanks for any tips!
Is it stuff made by AK-Interactive,anything on their site, any way to ask a question.I noted many reviews on Google including some long videos,no info on them.
What is made of,acrylic, lacquer,or enamel.Usually Lacquer thinner will clean any of the things we put in an airbrush.
I wonder how it Compares to Future or Aquagloss? May get a bottle to try out and experiment.
I got my bottle in. Have not airbrushed it yet, but on a test piece it went down very well with a brush. Self leveled, dried well. Windex removed it, just as with future. I did not try anything else since the windex worked.
Your welcome
Hi Doug, I use Iwata-Medea Airbrush Cleaner all the time after using Gauzy Agent. Does a great job. Larry
Water and Windex work great vat cleaning the AB.
I used this product on my F84 painted with Alclad paints. Self levels like a charm leaving a glass smooth finish.
I presume you sprayed it on, Ernie?
Any comments on how it sprays compared to ‘Future’?
This is water-based, right?
Hi Greg. Yes it’s water based and I sprayed it about 12 psi, straight from the bottle. Light passes about 2" away till you get coverage. It protected the delicate high shine Alclad against masking tape damage. The Alclad metallic effect is there and I can honestly say there is little if any loss of reflection. I cleaned the ab with a Windex then rinsed with plain water. I followed up with LT to be sure internals were spotless.
Compared to Futue, it levels out and doesn’t kill the metallic Alclad effect unlike Future that does. I brush Future because I get orange peel when I spray it. I experimented with a test piece shot with Alclad and sprayed Future over it. No comparison, Gauzy did 100% better job and is most noticeable in person, while a picture doesn’t quite capture the full effect.
Thank you for a great rundown, Ernie!
I gave up spraying Future long ago, and though I’m a huge fan of Alclad’s solvent-based clears and had high hopes for their water-based clear (Aqua-Clear, I think it is), I never really figured out how to spray it either.
I think I’ll order some of the Gauzy right now before I forget, and cart it with me back to the bench when the time comes. A recommendation from you is a very high mark in my book.
I don’t have a lot of experience ordering AK products. Any recommendations?
Mega Hobby has a huge AK catalog, but they are currently out of that stuff
Greg I like all the AK lacquer paints. All great in my book. By the way, I also experimented with Aquagloss over the Alclad and Gauzy was hands down way better.
I got my Gauzy from MegaHobby but Tojo says they are out of it. eBay had it too.
Thanks for the heads-up re Megahobby PJ and Tojo.
Good to know, thanks! [Y]
I don’t mean to beat this to death, sorry, but…
I’m seeing two versions of the Gauzy. This:
And this:
Megahobby seems to have the orange one in stock. Can you good gentlemen advise which you are using?
Confusing. New packaging? Different products? Sometimes figuring out products in our hobby is a hobby in itself, no?
Greg, you need the one in the first picture. The second one is for dipping clear parts, appears to be milky and thicker.
Thanks Ernie!
