The world really needs a nice plastic kit for a WWII British carrier in 1/700, and to my notion the Ark Royal is the best possible choice. The one photo in the ad doesn’t show a lot, but what’s there looks good.
Aoshima used to be known as the weakest of the old “Waterline Series” manufacturers, but as I understand it the more recent kits from that firm have been excellent. I do hope the ship has Swordfish on its deck, though.
I do hope that one day somebody does this ship in 1/350 scale. I do remember getting the old Revell 1/720 HMS Ark Royal HMS Ashanti pair kit at the local Sears when I was a boy and building it. It’s nice to see a new tooled kit of this historically significant ship coming out.
It appears it’s been out in England for a month. As they are experts on the subject, there’s a lot of fine detail criticism and at least one major shape issue. One person preferred the old Revell kit, which isn’t at all a bad one.
It has a big PE fret available as well.
What gets my attention, when looking at the sprues, is how much detail got cast onto the hull halves with slide mold technology.
