interesting info in kit instructions

I’m building Accurate Miniature’s Doolittle Raider B-25B. As I’m going thru the right fuselage sub-assembly, the kit intructions have this to offer: “Glue the chemicla toilet (J221) to the locator as shown on the right fuselage half. Make certain this part is aligned vertically. Notice that the lid is closed. They must be expecting WAAF’s to visit.”
Now that’s what I call fine detail!

Probably more information than actually needed to assemble the kit [:)].

On the contrary, chap. This in reality is a hint to tell you that you don’t need your mask to paint this area.

AM is always throwing these little things in…another reason I like them!

i think it was tom (tho9900) who said that in one of the AM instruction sheets said “see, we told you to do this step first, now you see why” pity they arent available in singapore…

Another reason AM’s kits are great … [swg]

That’s cool … I’ve never built one of their kits but that’s enough to make me try one. Little bits of humor thrown into something like that really make it more interesting, I think. There is some movie I’ve seen several times, can’t remember what now, but the closing credits contain little humorous tidbits like that.

it’s in the name…Accurate Miniatures…
and how familiar they are to a modeller’s sensibilities…
user friendly [^] ! ! ! ! !

scott, are you talking about monty python ? those guys are great

No, it wasn’t Monty Python. It was a movie and I’ve seen it several times, just can’t remember what it was.

Probably some of the Zucker movies like the Airplane and Naked Gun series. Did they have Leslie Nielsen in them?

yeah I’d have to dig out the instructions for the SBD I did, but the whole set was riddled with little remarks like that… it really made it a little nicer to build. Especially because it seems the comments were usually in the same place as a more difficult piece to attach etc… kinda helped set the mood BEFORE I got frustrated!
