Had the first snow of the year here in Maine over the weekend…which got me to thinking (always dangerous, I know [;)]) about the fact that I’ve never done a winter scheme on any of my armor. So what better way to solve that problem than hosting a group build? I’m thinking the requirements would be pretty easy - winter paint scheme! - on the vehicle of your choice. Would run from the first of the year to…1st of May probably? Right about when the snow finally melts here? [:D] “Snow Scheme GB '08” or something similar for the title.

I’d also have to see what the A/C guys say, of course…I know there’s a few good winter paint jobs to be had over on ‘their’ end of things. [:)]

So just probing, as the subject says. Any interest [?]

Hey there, sage of spandex, I have a lot of catching up to do on this forum and saw your post. I’d like to try a winter scheme also. Count me in, please. I have a king tiger I could use.

That is a great idea. I actually thought about it myself, but I really don’t have anthing I want to do right now in the GB sense, but rather get a few others finished up. Good luck, I’ll be taking notes.

Hey dupes, you’ve got me interested. I’ve never done a winter scheme before and if this GB takes off, it will give me incentive to try it! Don’t know what vehicle I could do, but I’m sure I can find something in the stash that can be done in white!

Apparently this is a pretty niche-y subject…I figured there would be a lot more interest with winter approaching, and a severe lack of white-washed builds lately. [:D]

However, with you two on board, I’m still game. Make sure to tell all of your forum-friends, and I’ll beat around the A/C side too to see what I can come up with! [8]

I could probably give it a shot Dupes, been itching to try the “hairspray” technique for a white wash. Gotta finish the 251 and then figure out what to build in the GB.

So ya, count me in.

I might. I too, have been wanting to try a whitewash hairspracy echnique. Probably on something with Schurtzen, or a Wespe.

I’d definitely be interested, dupes, probably with a Stug IV.

Although I’d recommend finding a more inspiring title, like “Winter Warriors” before you start an official thread[;)]

And of course, if you want snazzy badges I’d be happy to make them.

Winter warriors sounds cool and if hermes makes the badges you’ll have an avalance of participants[:)]

Dupes-I’ve got an old Sherman from a Battle of the Bulge GB many years ago-and the more I look at it, the less I like it. Would you mind if I just repaint/weather/add-to as an entry?

As for the badge, I would love to have you whip something up …I sort of had something in mind, don’t know how copyrights etc. work with group build badges, but look here:

Just armor or Armor and A/C? Need to know for the badge(s)…

If it’s the only way I can get you into the build, sure. [;)] There would have to be a good start-to-finish log of the stripping/repainting/weathering, but I could live with that. [:D]

How many years ago are we talking (going back to the “I’m old enough to be your…”)? [(-D]

I’m in. Did the Allies paint their vehicles white, or was that strictly a Gerrman thing?

during the “battle of the bulge” there are a few pics of HT’s and shermans in winter whitewash some even in the process of being painted so for sure yes. [:)]
