Input needed...

I am trying to learn how to age my pictures, here is my latest attempts.
Please let me know what you think about these ‘‘aged’’ photos and what changes I could make to improve them.

TIA,

Matrixone

Top onelooks great! second one is still good!

To age new pictures…turn them into black and white and put some noise or specks on them. Photo editors often include these features.

The top one is close, but you need it to be more rough, and have more particles in it. It is called grainy. It happenes when high speed film was used. Hope that helps

Thanks rebelreenactor, Dwight, and scubyboy99!

The color photo is aged a bit, I am trying to copy the less than perfect early color photography as used in WWII.

What u could also do is mess around with the contrast and gamma. It will make the darks darker and the light lighter. Like this photo of my tiger. U could also blur it a bit.

Keep well.

Thank you for your ideas Artorius,

I am just now figuring out how to age my photos, I can use all the ideas I can get!

Hollw Cow I wouldnt be so concernd about aging those photos, but instead be concerned about getting that diorama to a contest, its, really good.

Um I dont know anything about even taking photos, I cant do it even with a disposable camera.[^][bow]

Vintage Aircraft,

Thanks very much for the kind words about my photos!
I am just now getting things put together for my photobase, the ground work is almost done, there are two more buildings to be built one of them will be a large airplane hanger. Right now I have a 1/72 scale Opel Blitz truck and a 1/48 scale Kubelwagon on the work table, also at the same time I am working on 1/48 scale ground crew figures. The Blitz and Kubelwagon will get painted tomorrow while the figures will get final assembly and maybe primer.
Then the next thing that will be built will be the hanger, I have put off making this hanger because it will be tough to do, it will be all scratch built.
Also a new backdrop will be made and airbrushed, the ‘‘sky’’ in my current backdrop is too dark. The new backdrop will have much lighter sky near the horizon which should help my pictures when I age them.

If you can afford it get one of these digital cameras, they are very easy to operate and if you don’t like your pictures you can erase them! The camera I have is a Fujifilm FinePix 2800Zoom I bought at a local Wal-Mart for under$300. And it comes with basic photo editing software.

Looks like you about got it with that last one.

Thanks claymore68!

That last photo looks OK but it has maybe a bit too much grain to it. My current photo editing software is crude and I can’t quite get the right grain effect I am after. I just got Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 and once I learn how to use it I might get these photos aged to where they look like the photos in my books, I will post some pics if I get things sorted out.
Thank you for your input.

Hey keep pluging along, and by all means get that hanger done, now knowing the full extent of you diorama has inspired me to plug on with my project, A delric B-29 Superfortress in 1/48 scale in the China Lake naval air and gunnery range, Its gonna have scratch built engins, internal wing detail, and a ton of other sctatch built stuff, Im not planning to get this thing done untill next March, But I need it done by October for a contest.

Oh if you or anyone else knows where I can get 1/48 B-29 superfortress engins, cuz Im putting three of them on there with the fourth ripped off, please tell me, it would be of great help.

try putting some white streaks in it to represent scratches.

Thank you Vintage Aircraft and stukabomb88!

Vintage Aircraft: That sounds like a massive diorama you plan to make, are you going to make it in sections or one large piece? Good luck with it and I hope you can get a camera and send in some pics when it is completed.

stukabomb88: I will try your idea with adding some streaks and other slight photo imperfections when I get used to my new photo editing software, I had planned on posting some new pics this weekend but it is very rainy in my part of the country right now and since I do all my photography outside I am SOL. Maybe the weather will clear sooner than predicted and allow some pics. Will post some if I do.
