I know not many people get injurec from modelling, but how do you continue to finish that one area before the paint dries (ex. drybrushing) when you just ut open your finger with an exacto knie, actually i better go put a bandaide on before i post this, ok now its on and i have about 20 min and i cant hold the brush plese tell me how to get this done with only one working hand!
too late it dried. some blood is on it too, so for the new ssubject, how do you get blood off of the model?
shoule i work it in as a rust with rustol, it is on the edge where rust does form

I don’t really have an answer for your predicament, but what about a toothbrush and/or painting over it? I’ve heard of the phrase “blood, sweat and tears” but I don’t think it was meant to be taken literally. [:)]
Actually, It was a Panzerkampfwagon and I drybrushed red-brown over it and It came out really nicely. Plus, I cut it becasue while doing the drybrushing I was scribing details on a lifering for my LVCP diorama (ships section) and its a crappyt lindberg I thought I could make better with some scratchbuilding. As it turned out i was cutting through the plastic and it was so thin it went through it and nearly cut off the tip of my finger (thank god for a fingernail).
you could leave the blood and put a dead figure there and it would really be realistic.only thing for the full effect you will have to cut it back open to bleed on figure
but really i hope you didnt cut yourself to bad.i still have a 27 year old scare on my finger where i did the same as you and cut it with a exacto knife
im starting to like it. it has a very hard part of skin because it was deep, so about 15 layers of skin are cut, but still there, and right undderneath it is dried bloo.d The cut wont be hard to cut open because the cut healed deep (the bleeding didnt stop after an hours pressure so i bandaged i and said hell with it) so if i prick the part where it dried, I should hit the major area of blood in my index finger.
dont take that seriously, and blood on teh guy cna be tamyia flat red. its so thinned out of the bottle. its crap for paint good for blood.

Once I was sawing the resin casting block off a Verlinden CSS Hunley kit and got a little impatient. I was really forcing the saw blade when the pour block cracked, creating a long, sharp shard that tore into my hand. That one was deep, as the blood was a dark red. Hurt like a son of a gun too! I tried using tape to temporarily hold the wound closed so I could finish the job, but it kept bleeding all over the part so I had to stop. I did eventually finish the model. I think that was the worst model related accident I ever had.
