Hi guys, I picked this kit up and am just looking for some info on it. From first glance it looks great with molded in anti-skid, anyway, and info would be good.
Thanks, Anthony.

Oh poor you, you got the re-boxed Trumpeter pain-in-end kit. Kidding aside, get the putty tube ready. I wasn’t impressed with the fit on the Trump kit and some of the poorly molded pieces. It did, as you said, have some nice details and anti-skid surface, which even , Tamiya lacked.
[:(] ok that’s good to know, I am not starting it for a while, just wanted some backgound info… Is it even worth building?? Or should I try and sell it to another sucker lol. Is there any AM or PE avaiable for the kit?
Oh, it will build up like any other kit with some TLC, unfortunately my patience ran out. You might dump it and get the new Dragon M1 AIM coming out. It’s supposed to be the best Abrams ever built. I’m thinking of giving my Tamiya kit to my son.
Like tigerman says, with some TLC, it can come out great. Just depends on how much work you want to put into it. It does have some features that Tamiya’s does not have.
Check Vodnik’s M1 comparison article for more info on Trumpeter’s M1s.
Ok thanks guys, I’ll figure out what I want to do with it later, but that new Dragon one did catch my eye…
yeah if that thing will finally come out and play! Dragon is taking it’s sweet time with that kit… typical dragon!
I hear you James. Sometimes they drop a suprise out of their hats without warning.
Just so you know… waay back when, before Tamiya fixed their Abrams and Dragon issued their FUD versions, the Trump Abrams was considered the best of the lot. You could have done worse. And if you paid 10 bucks for one at Hobbylobby, you did real well for your self.
In addition to Vodnik’s site, see also;
As stated, its a reboxed Trumpeter offering. I’ve built two of their M1 tanks so far, and I don’t really think they are that bad. It’ll take some work for sure. Fit of side skirts and turret basket are known issues. However, I think they’re great models, and the moulded in anti-skid texture is a great bonus.
BTW, CDNTanker, what do you mean by typical DML? All companies nowadays announce kits that are in progress. They had the Panther II mine-clearing vehicle, and we’ve seen shots of the features of the M1, so we know its in progress. Plus, considering how much they’ve released in the last year, they can’t be blamed for not pumping out a kit a week.
oh I didn’t see this one yet zokissima… that Abrams has had more release dates then I have seen birthdays! They can’t make up their minds… I’m just tired of going to the site, seeing a predicted date, then seeing it pushed back, then another date… dragon is the least favourite company of mine!
I feel your frustrations James, but don’t give up on Dragon yet. They have some of the best kits (values) out there.
I picked up a Hobby Craft Abrams kit at Hobby Lobby just for the plow. The rest of the kit will probably be tossed at some point.
DML’s new M1A1AIM is on its way. Armorama already has the preview kits and has shown the pieces/parts. A few guys there are building the first ones too. A few were on sale at IPMS Nationals in KC a couple weeks ago. It is supposed to be in the shops here in the US by the last week in AUG (next week) or the first week in SEP. I can’t wait to get mine. It looks awesome.
The Hobby Craft (reboxed Trumpeter) Abrams kits are not that bad. Like I said above, it can come out looking great. Definitely not one to throw in the trash. If that is all you are going to do to it, I’ll take it off your hands for you.
Gino’s right, they do exist. I’ve had a complimentary one for a couple of weeks now and several Armorama reviewers are building theirs online. The feed back they provided via reviews were used to tweak the final product for the general public.
Like HeavyArty said, if you don’t want it, I do. That goes to anybody else out there who doesn’t want a kit or even pieces. Matthew9 sent me some leftover kit pieces and I can now complete a VERY old kit, thanks to him. I’m just a poor firefighter. I’ll take just about whatever anyone else doesn’t want!
