I can’t wait for the dragon release on this anymore. It just sounds like too much of scratch building fun to wait for some plastic pieces to come out. Does anyone have detailed information or pictures on the conversion done from the Panther G? I just ordered a bunch of books on Panthers from amazon but they are taking their time to be delivered, so I don’t know if that vanguard panzer variants book could possibly have it. Achtun panzer site only had one picture for it.
I have few pics so please contact me on dragan.panzerfaust@gmail.com so I can send you !
Ryan:
Modeling an ERSATZ M-10 in 1/35th Scale was an article in the October 1987 Fine Scale Modeler. The article includes every detail you would need to complete the conversion including scale drawings of all the conversion pieces to be cut from styrene.
You could order the article from FSM or the entire issue from back orders.
Additionally, the article was re-printed in its entirety in the FSM book Armor Conversion Projects.
Either way these will complete the project for you.

Ahhh , kul, Dragon, I will be emailing you shortly through gmail. Those darn big mail boxes do help some days.
Greg, I think I am gonna try to go find that Armor Conversion n Detailing Projects book as well anyways from my LHS. They got a bunch of old FSM books that no one buys (been sitting there collecting dust). Hope this is among them. Thanks for the help. Man, I was only 4 years old when that article was written. : P
archangel:
definitely get the Armor Detailing & Conversions book !
i used the article on converting a Panther G in2 an ersatz m10
as a guide 2 do the same thing in 1/72 4 the Panther Family GB
last year… i used the hasegawa panther G as the base kit.
here’s a pic of how it turned out:
basically flat parts 4 the conversion except 4 the false differential
housings…
a pic of the ersatz in a dio setting…
have fun w/ ur project !

Ryan;
You’re welcome for the information. Regarding how old you were when it was written.
Now you know how I felt when I tracked down issues of Scale Modeler from 1965 or AFV News from 1966, I wasn’t even born then.
That is the best part of this hobby, someone has probably already done the research for you. The trick is locating the source.
The best advice I can give you as far as references is look for the older books and magazines. These have tons of information in them that can help you build great prototypes out of even the most basic kit. Plenty are filled with “How to” references to make items yourself that have been replaced by expensive aftermarket kits.
Just a thought for you.

Gregory
There loads of photos and line drawings Ersatz in the in the Tankpower, Panther volume 7
Great subject. I’ll be building a Ersatz M-10 for my next project. I’m using the CMK Panther G Ezsatz M-10 convertion I got at Squadron. It calls for the Tamiya G. I still have to see if it’s for the early G or late G.
well they were used for ardennes, so i’d assume it’d be the Late G.
anyhow, I just got back from a trip to the local hobby shop. AND THEY HAD THE BOOK!!! ahahahaha. well, I picked that up, some more styrene sheets and rods, n stuff. I’d hoped for a 2D to the scale drawing for the armor plating so I can cut them directly from the templates but I guess I can settle with a 1/35 3 view drawing. Time for some more CAD work.
Oh yea, before that happens, now is a good time for me to start to read that book.
