info on dragon's SU-152 chinese army

never even knew this kit existed and am thinking about picking on up. can any of you “vets” of armor modeling give me any info on the quality of the kit?

thanks

this is the kit’s boxart…

teah its the same kit ive got, but i have an extra sprue with the gun and mantlet for the ISU-122s
Eduard make a nice 152 barrel

thanks captain, would this have been in Korea so I can use it for the GB?

the chinese army used the ISU-152 yes it woluld have been in korea, i thought i put it on a list in the korea build

you did, i forgot. thanks for all the info.

No, the 152s were not used in Korea. Fortunately for us, because they would have been a headache to deal with. The Chinese did not send in the heaviest armour, to maintain the fiction that China was not at war with the US. However, the Chinese did mass their heavy armour, including their 152s, on the border, in case the war heated up any more.

Dragon must be wrong
ive only got 1 book on Korea, So Larry says no well your have to go for another kit
and take the IS-2s of the list, there isnt any evedence they saw combat

Do they actually say the tank fought in Korea? I thought their little history in the kit says that the 152 was in the Chinese army during the war, and the vehicles were massed on the border but not sent to the forces fighting in Korea. Which after all were supposedly “volunteers.”

Well, I’m just some guy on the internet, and happy to be proven wrong. But I’ve read that they were not sent to Korea. NK armour encountered was almost all T-34/85, with a handful of SU-76.

thanks for the info… appreciate it

I didnt meen anything about it Larry[:)]
The kit box is ment tobe a Korean war kit, but your explanation sounds good[8D]

Your just some guy on the internet , and happy to be proven wrong
so am i and youve proven me wrong[:)]

ive only got one book on Korea, thats all i was saying
i looked through it and listed the tanks, the ISU-152 was listed from when Dragon made there Korean war kits

i prefer WW2, Vietnam and Spec Opps things

and to end with a thank you Larry for clearing it up[:)]

so i guess even an su-100 wouldn’t work either… only su-76’s? no 85’s either?

That’s a good question. I remember reading that the NKs got some SU-100s, but I don’t ever remember reading of their use in the war. They had the Katyusha rocket launcher too, IIRC.

SU-100s were used in the Suez crisis, so it’s not like the Soviets were keeping them all to themselves. Hmm – this might be a question for Missing Lynx.
