Info needed on this 75mm U.S. Pack Howitzer

I finally broke down and start purchasing U.S. Artillery pieces (Heavyarty has been a REAL bad influence on my modeling hobby [:D] he some how convinced me to love artillery pieces) and this is the latest purchase I made.

Any info on this kit? I made an inquiry about 1/35 scale 75mm pack howitzer many many moons ago and one of the members from this forum indicated that Jadar hobby was selling it. I’ve tried to purchase old Tamiya metal kit from ebay, but didn’t want to pay $35+ for it.

Thanks!

The S Models 75mm Pack Howitzer is a direct copy of the metal Tamiya kit. Not playing by the copyright rules but that happens in the industry. That being said, your model should therefore build like the Tamiya one.

Thanks for the info T26E4!

Now, is this the one that comes without the instruction? Friend of mine has a resin copy of the old Tamiya kit and doesn’t have the instruction for it. If that is the case, any idea where I can obtain the copy of instruction?

Thanks again

Ah yes!!! My plan is working. Another convert to the King of Battle!! Good luck with your M3 Pack Howitzer. I don’t have one of them, how much was this one? It should build up nicely if it is a copy of the Tamiya one.

Hello Gino!

This one cost about $17 USD. I ordered 2 of them and should be getting it within next several days. I can’t wait! Thanks to you, now I am sitting on a M109A2, M109A6 Paladin and 2 MLRS. As I told you before, I am building Paladin for a friend of mine who will be retiring from the Army as an FA officer (due to his injuries). Anyway, I hope you are enjoying your new home.

Hey there,

I have the instructions for the original Tamiya kit in front of me. [:)] PM me your email addy and I’ll scan it and shoot it over.

Phil

Hello Phil!

Thank you so much for your offer! Just PM my email addy.

Best regards,

Charlie

Instructions sent [:)]

Phil,

Thank you so much! Can I re-pay you back with Vegimite?[:D]

Hi M1garand,

Happy to be able to assist… [:)]

Vegemite?? Ewwww… (though you know the main ingredient in Vegemite is brewer’s yeast don’t you? - [:D] )

Cheers,

Phil

Ditto EEuueww on Vegemite, (or Marmite in UK), wouldn’t toutch it with with ANY part of my anatomy… There was an ad on tv here, where ‘babe’ invites ‘dude’ back for coffee, goes in kitchen, has marmite sarnie, goes back in living room, snogs dude, who promptly heaves guts, (‘Chunders’ in Australian), & leaves rapidly… Anyway… I have original Tamiya 75, with instructions… bought on german ebay for Euros12, $15.00, Still had original price of DM 8.95 on box… now all i want is the M118/119 & M198 (about USD $ 100 each…) http://www.mheaust.com.au/MHE/Resin/OZA/M118.htm http://www.mheaust.com.au/MHE/Resin/OZA/M198.htm have fun… Jon UK I want it ALL, I want it NOW, I want it affordable…

Love vegemite made by Kraft! I use it to make soup or have it lightly spread on my toast.

Vegemite/Marmite… You either LOVE it or Hate it… once saw a polish lass spread it on like mortar on a brick, went a very odd grey-green colo(u)r, & wasn’t seen for days… Since nobody needs instructions posting, any body got a stowage diagram to tie-down this babe in a WACO glider? Jon UK

Lol, actually it’s not all that bad - though it’s been a few years since I last had any [:D]

while I will never convert to be a cannon cocker like heavyarty, wish they had more artillery models out beside expensive resin kits

if anti-tank guns count as artillery, i love artillery[:)]

what does “howitzer” means???

i mean the term, not da gun.

Nope, AT guns are not artillery, sorry.

From Wikepia,

“Howitzers are distinguished from other types of cannon artillery by their trajectory in that they tend to fire at high angles and deliver plunging fire.”

More here.

A field gun fires a more flat trajectory, and, as in the case of an AT gun, direct fire.

Gun, Howitzer? Lets call the whole thing off… During WW2, the British Artillery doctrine was EITHER AA, OR Anti-Tank OR Howitzer (indirect fire), & ammo was supplied on that basis. Doctrinally, AA guns, even in the desert, were ‘NOT’ used for AT, or indirect fire support, as the 3.7" (88mm FLaK18 equivalent) did not have sights OR fuses that could allow this. Operationally, an Artilleryman would serve in one of the above divisions, and would not be cross-trained in other equipment or procedeures, untill posted to another unit. AA, = Anti-Aircraft (20mm, 37mm, 40mm, 3.7") Anti-Tank = Direct Fire, (2pdr, 6pdr, 17pdr) Howitzer = Indirect fire. (4.5", 5.5", 7.2") The 25pdr Mk1, (no muzzle brake) had only indirect sights, but the 25pdr Mk2 (muzzle brake) had direct (telescope) & indirect sights, and could also supplied with (limited numbers of) AT rounds, and HE rounds, with improved fuses for proximity and impact detonation. So what did they call the 25pdr? in the classic British Fudge, a Field Gun… (grin) Jon UK

Would love to see more companies manufacturing artillery pieces. I would love to see more companies manufacturing U.S. and Allied forces AA or AT guns too!
