Does anybody out there know where I can get a kit or plans for the US Navy’s Cyclone class patrol corvettes? I really want to scratchbuild one in 1/72 scale. I’ve looked around the Net but pics are uncommon and drawings or plans I’ve been unable to find. Any help at all would be appreciated.[cptn]
The AM may have your Cyclone class destroyer for you!
Search 'Resin shipyard’ A Canadian company that mainly manufactures Canadian subjects but may have one that is close / same class.
Item) There are no currently available kits of the Cyclone-class PC in plastic or resin. There may be a bare fiberglass hull available in the RC scales. .
Item) The Floating Drydock offers plans of the Cyclone-class. These are General Arrangement plans and do not include hull lines. Getting an accurate hull shape from GA plans is rather tricky.

The builders plans (Bu-series) they list are rather limited subjects. The G-series is more complete.
Item) The Canadian Iroquois destroyer shown, or any destroyer for that matter, is significantly different from the Cyclone-class patrol craft… Start with one of them and you would do just as well as starting from scratch with a stock of bass wood, plexiglas, and Evergreen (Oh yes , and a good set of plans!).
Darren at Resin Shipyard does good work – but the product suggested will not work
Just posted the picture as a reference to the company. I had no clue what a ‘Cyclone’ class destroyer looked like.
Thanks for posting the information Ed.
corvette & destroyer are 2 different things.
