I received a gift card last weekend for $50. It’s burning a hole in my pocket, and I need to spend it before I forget about it or lose it somewhere. So my question to everyone is what would you buy? I’m drooling over some high end 1/32 scale jet kits that are all two to three times what I have to spend. Drats!
I have a prepaid visa that was given that’s killing me. I have over 200 kits in stash. But I’m slowly converting over to acrylics i might just pick up a few. Or some aftermarket stuff. Ahh the choices
As it will be basically a free kit have a look for something you wouldn’t normally build and get that. The change will improve your other builds and the change will be good for you too. I did taht with the Iron Man I built in the Heroes and Villians group build and really enjpyed the build.
Why stick with one kit? Wait for a sale at Squadron or Sprue Brothers and go crazy! Buy a bunch of different stuff. Couple of kits, paint, tools you have been wanting, reference material! Go nuts!
For Christmas I got both a $50 and a $30 gift cards to Hobby Town. Right now I cant find either one! Makes me sick!!! I’d go for something out of my ordinary like a starship Enterprise or a real expensive super-kit that I wouldn’t normally get.
Hmm. I looked at Squadron, but I didn’t know about Sprue Bros. I’ll see what they have to offer. Are there any other web sites I should look at? I don’t want to wait too long or I’ll lose the darn card. I’ve done that, been there.
I thought for sure I would get a bunch of “oh, I’ve always wanted that old kit of…” responses. You guys have some great ideas though. I did look at some kits that were out of my normal interest, space ships for example, but nothing jumped up and said “buy me”. Or they were way over my $50 limit with shipping. I’ll keep shopping. Still looking for something in a larger scale for $50. Not easy to find. But fun to shop for!
Aaarrg! I couldn’t stand it, I had to buy! I went to Sprue Bros. and found something that caught my interest. It’s a Wolfpack T-38 in 1/48. I read a few reviews that were all positive except for the price. So the price was right, so how could I lose? The cockpit looks pretty detailed, something I need to work on, and they said it was a fast easy build. Also a plus for someone just getting back into the hobby.
One thing I’ve noticed while reading kit reviews are the reviewers are very helpful in letting you know the trouble areas. And what they would do next time to make the kit better. That’s a great help.
I just finished the T-38. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I did it as part of the Trainer GB going on here now. There were a few things that I found fiddly but overall it is a well done kit.
I can’t wait to start. I’m getting back into the hobby, and this will be my first kit. One of the reviewer had an issue with the front panel being too tall. Did you run into that issue?
