Idea for rigging biplanes??

I have a eduard and testors 1/48 neuiport 17 and thought if this would be and idea for rigging. I completely complete the model and when everything is done I use wire/cable I am going to buy. Then measure it the right length, and then cut it and glue it in the holes thats why I thought it might make it easier or somthing and it won’t sag like fishing/sewing line might.

If anyone has done this before or has a better idea please comment[:)]

I used a .009 guitar string to rig my Pfalz D lll.I cut the string to length after measuring with dividers then dipped each end in CA.Then I just popped it in with tweezers.

This is a great idea in principle. However, measuring the exact length of rigging wire required, to a fraction of a mm, which is the tolerance required if you’re going to avoid sag, isn’t easy.

Far better to use 2 lb-test fishing line or nylon invisible thread, where you can take up reasonable amounts of slack by passing a lighted joss stick beneath the wire, or lycra rigging thread, which is self-tensioning.

Cheers,

Chris.

For my Morane Saulinier I used one long strand of 2lb test monofilament to rig it.

I use lengths of steel music wire cut slightly oversized then inserted into pre-drilled holes using a .076" bit in a pin vise. All attached points are drilled prior to any assembly. Once the model is painted and the wings attached , it is easy to cut the wire about 1-2 mm oversize then slip them in place securing with a drop of CA.

This rigging makes for an extremely strong model.

Ok thanks everyone, that was kind of my idea with wire but I never thought you could music wire CA is somthing in super glue I think.
