ICM T-35 Russian Heavy Tank--how is it?

Well, I just ordered the the ICM T-35 russian Heavy Tank, or nicknamed Land Battleship, due to its FIVE turrets! Anyways, jsut wondering how quality is for ICM kits? Ive read some good stuff about it, and with 759 parts I would expect its got some nice detail. Anyone know anything else? Ive always loved those obsolete and experimental weapons more than just another sherman/panzer.

Mine is still in the box, but I’ll take a look at it.

It’s BIG, larger than the Maus sitting on my desk. It’s got to be one of the ugliest looking tanks ever made, that’s for sure! The parts look nicely molded, with no visible flash. Get ready for a lot of indy track links, but at least there aren’t any ejector pin marks on them. You get an engine and tranny, a driver’s seat and a basket with shell racks for the main turret, but that’s about all for the interior. Looks like a fair amount of mold release on the parts, so a bath is definitely in order. The instructions seem to be pretty clear. Looks rather nice overall. I might have to build this next, once I find some references for it.

The only PE set I see available is the Eduard set. Some AM barrels are also available.

i have this kit also and it doesnt look bad, i built the T28 by ICM which is the other land battleship only slightly smaller with just the three turrets and it went together nice Kykeon is correct about them needing a good bath before building actually a couple of baths is in order, when i got mine i noticed the upper hull being badly warped and have read others being the same but i glued one end down and then gradually worked my way up the hull and it will work fine. In the box the T28 and T35 look about the same quality wise so i expect it will be a nice build. heres a pic of the slightly smaller T 28

Thanks guys, I read that their T-28 was a lot alike, so I went back to your (biffas) builds of 2006 page, since I remembered you building this monster, but the links had timed out, so I couldnt see. Thanks for the picture.

no problem Ian if you have any more questions feel free, i had to organise my photobucket and broke the links on a lot of images here are the rest of my t28 shots if they are of any use.

As with most ICM kits, it is fairly nice. The hull is comprised of multiple pieces, and they go together fairly well. As stated, the models always come with a very thick and noticeable layer of mould release agent, so they’ll definitely have to be cleaned. Pretty nice detail. Some flash on parts, but nothing horrendous. And a very interesting vehicle to boot [:)]
