ICM Studebaker US6

Has anyone out there built the new Studebaker by ICM?It has been years since I built a kit.The reason I got it is I remember my father raving about Studebakers that he drove while building the Alaska Highway during WW2.I noticed in the kit that the grille is bent slightly.Any suggestions on how to straighten it?Thanks

I have not built one, yet(I’ve got one on order). I have heard some very good thing about the kit, the only exception being the tread blocks on the tires. Apparently, the blocks line up with one another, where they should be staggered. I belive that that there are some resin ones on the market to correct this. I am trying to remember where I have seen them. I don’t know if this helps you or not. Hearsay and conjecture.

Thanks ,yeah the tires are like you said not staggered.Other then that the tires looked nicely detailed.I have a older GMC deuce and a half I wonder if the wheels will work from that.

the Tamyia GMC wheels wont work without some serious modification. You’re better off buying aftermarket wheels or fixing the wheels in the kit - there have been a couple of fixes posted on other sites (basically slicing the wheel in two and then re-aligning it) - i don’t have a link but a search here or on google should pull them up.

wBill76 did a great build log on this site (and another)

You are correct, the only issue is the tire tread. The rest of the kit is great. You can modify a set of Italeri CCKW/GMC tires to fit the axles pretty easily.

Thanks I have a Italeri kit,thats what I’ll do
