Anyone have any experience with these kits? ICM has a 109 I want and wondering if it is a good kit or not… looking for the 109 F in 1/48 scale.

I had NO fun building my 1/48 ICM 109 F
The wingroots did not fit atall and the resulting gap was really bad and big.The rear canopy didn’t follow the shape of the turtle deck either. The engine is nice, bit the cowls do not fit over them atall.
The cockpit detail is rather nice wit a good pannel. The surface detail is also very nice.
I built ICM’s 1.48 P-51 D and in my limited experience it compared to “name brand” kits, but the 109 is a total different beast.
Check out the 109 GB (a few pages back) to see my ICM 109 F build that I completed in SAAF captured colours.
If you go for this kit just know it takes work to get “acceptabe” results…good luck!

I built the ICM Bf 109F with Marseilles markings and had some problems with warpage as on wing was higher than the second and the tail being off 90 degrees affecting the tailplanes as well. The reviews generally rave about the kit, so maybe it was just mine? Revell recently re-released the ICM 109F as well.
Why when there’s so many excellent Hasegawa offerings? They are a dime a dozen on ebay.
Don’t know about the ICM kit but have been told that the best of the Fredrich in 1/48 is the Zvezda offering. I have it in my stash and it looks quite awesome. Lots of detail and it can be had for not much on SrueBro’s.

Hmm, I had picked up on from ebay new for $10, I guess there was a reason it was priced that way…
Go for the Zvezda kit pal. It’s a beautiful kit in the box. I’ve looked at it from just about every angle and it looks like a winner plus I’ve read alot of forum comments about it. The instructions look a little tricky but it can be figured out.
Buy the Zvezda. If you’re set on a -4 I think they may have it out by now. I know it’s been in the works. But the F-2 is fantastic (and if it builds half as well as their La-5 you’re in for a treat).
Well now I know before I dump some real $$. At $10 it cant be too bad? Its on its way anyhow. Well i guess this will just be more practice. Thanks for the heads up!
Its okay7 but you would be better off with the hasegawa offering—or try the newer Zveda kit…
So Pzl,
What did you end up doing? Just curious. ICM is better than MPM…
It will be at my house tomorrow… I had already bought it at the time of making the thread. Was just wondering how good/bad the kit was since it was $10. I will see tomorrow. I will have some down time from the Tarpon when it is curing with a gloss coat… My 109 fire is burning again!!
Go for it dude!!!

Steal it…
Seriously…
Just right-click on it and then click “save picture as” and save it in one of your files, then upload it to Photobucket or whatever you use… Then add it to your signature…
Thanks Hans,
Youre tha man! How’s it going anyhow? Finally got the wings on the plane and primed it. Guess I’ll post the latest. Thanks for the information on that logo.
It’s finer ‘n frog-hair… Busier than a cat tryn’ to cover crap on a marble floor though…
Most of their kits are limited-run style. They have decent detail, but everything else is very poor. My least favorite model to build was an ICM Spitfire.
