ICM 1/35th scale Erickson S-64

Was curious if anyone plans on getting this behemoth?

Mister…you have definitely got my attention!! Given what you’ve done in the recent past with other builds this should be a real treat to watch come together.

Thanks Joe. At least I won’t have to scratch build anything for this one. Would be nice if ResKit came out with the correct rotor head, and composite blades for an F model. One can only hope.

You could always scratch the firefighting tank and associated parts.

That last picture would make for an awesome diorama!

I’ve done it once before. Not sure I’ll do it again. Erickson was helpful with the process.

There’s a gentleman on facebook that did a stunning diorama of an S-64 with the sea snorkel in the water. The blades are even bent UPWARDS!!

This is his diorama…. It’s SICK!!!

I reached out to Erickson to see if they were willing to help with my research. They did. I sent them photos of the progress. They put together a link to a site detailing my process.

holy wow, this is an absolutely beautiful model!

I’ve always wanted to build some aerial firefighting aircraft. I really love the CalFire S-70is! They fly over my house all the time starting around now to November.

I’ve been waiting for a Erikson bird for a while. I spent quite a few years in fire country in socal so I’m a big fan of anything firefighter. Lone Star was supposed to do a 1/72 upgrade set… actually ordered it twice but it was never produced (to be fair the owner has been through some stuff).
I’m hoping ICM does a 1/48 scale version of the CH-54 and an Erikson variant.
Your build CB is just amazing - someone should kit your work! I’d buy it

I built the 1st release, which was military, but this one seems popular, it’s extremely huge, especially with rotor blades. I’m waiting for the 1/72 version, that’s a more displayable model. I wonder why they didn’t do it in 48 scale, they would have had a lot more sales I reckon.

Very nice. It came out great.

Yea Grant. I was really surprised that they came out with a 1/35 scale CH-54. It take up a tremendous amount of space on my shelf, especially when it’s on a display base. I agree with you saying they would’ve sold more of these in 1/48th scale. A lot of modelers out there don’t have a lot of space to display something this big.
My one complaint about the kit was the super soft/weak plastic. They need to change their formula.

Yes, especially the rotor blades, they are easy to damage because of the length.
