I want my Sept./Oct. issue of FSM

I have not received my issue of FSM so where is it? I have contacted FSM customer service twice and Firecrown customer service twice and have not received a response since 8/28. Why is that? So with this, I should get a Fedex’ed copy and a free year subscription for this great customer service from both FSM and Firecrown. I guess I should write to the CEO next to get any movement.

I thought I was the only one who hadn’t received their copy. I’m sure it’s on the way.

Hasn’t arrived here in Canada yet either, although it usually takes a bit longer here. Added to that, we have a rotating postal strike (just improved from full on work stoppage), so when it will arrive is anyone’s guess.

I’ve contacted Firecrown previously about a missing issue due to a subscription problem during renewal. They were very understanding and helpful. The problem was rectified quickly and a new magazine arrived shortly thereafter.

You didn’t mention if you phoned, emailed, or used their “contact us” form, but I found it better to phone directly to get my problem sorted out.

Hope you are able to get your issue sorted and have a new copy in your hands soon.

Maybe your mail carrier has taken up the hobby? I already have the Nov/Dec issue.

I’ve got my Spt./Oct. issue and the Nov./Dec. issue…

I subscribe to both FSM and MRR. In the months that FSM publishes I would receive both issues together in a wrapper. Not for the Sep/Oct FSM as I never received it, customer service did send a replacement issue. Now, the Nov/Dec issue of FSM failed to arrive and I am waiting on a reply from them. I think in the last 35 years I only failed to receive one issue of FSM, now two issues in a row.

Do you get the paper publications? I get digital and have never had an issue.

Paper. Still prefer it over digital.

Did they get it straightened out for you?

Nope - haven’t heard back from them…
@Tim_Kidwell1

Hi all,

I’m jumping in here after seeing Rob ping me. Sorry that I didn’t see it before.

There are a few things that are going on here. First, we don’t ship any current issues ourselves. Fulfillment is handled from the printer. (Back issues is another story.) I’m not sure what’s going on with the missing Sept/Oct 2025 issues. Those were sent out weeks ago, so if you’re missing yours, it is probably because of some hiccup in the postal service. If you have contacted customer service and they haven’t been able to help you or have not gotten back to you, DM here and I’ll see what I can do for you for the Sept/Oct 2025 issue.

If you are a subscriber in the U.S. and are missing your Nov/Dec 2025 issue, let me know. I’ll include it with the Sept/Oct 2025 batch and see if we can get that straightened out for you.

Regarding the Nov/Dec 2025 issue, our Canadian/International customers should have already received this message or one similar to it: “Due to ongoing global delivery challenges, we are unable to guarantee reliable postal delivery of the October 2025 and future issues. Going forward, all international subscriptions will be fulfilled in a digital-only format to ensure consistent and timely access to content. We are working to extend your current subscription term based on the remaining amount of additional postage and shipping you paid for your print + digital subscription. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to resolving this for you.”

For FSM Canadian/International subscribers, this means that some of you will receive a paper copy and some may only receive a digtial version of the Nov/Dec 2025 issue. No, I do not know who or how it was decided, but I suggest you call our customer service number 877-246-4847 or email FineScaleModeler@Omeda.com. Omeda handles our subscription fulfillment and will have insight into your subscriptions that I nor my staff do not. Every Canadian/International subscriber will be delivered digital-only copies starting with the Jan/Feb 2026 issue.

I expect this will not sit well with many of you, and I will honestly tell you it doesn’t sit well with me either. Me saying so publicly will most likely be cause for reprimand. I know how much paper copies mean to our readership and to the brand. However, I also understand that this decision affects all Firecrown titles, not just FSM, and the company is looking for cost savings to allow us to continue to deliver not only FSM, but all of its titles.

So, what can I do?

I’ll help where I can on this, and right now, that’s with the Sept/Oct 2025 issues. Once I’m sure I have all those folks, I’ll forward a single list to a couple of our in-house specialists and have them reach out to you. As far as the Canadian/International subs and deliveries are concerned, that’s best handled by Omeda because that’s where the edtiorial staff will end up forwarding your queries.

I’ll answer what questions I can, and I will ask for answers to the questions I don’t know the answers to. If you have questions, it’s best to DM me because I’ll get a notification.

The team and I will continue to work with some of the best modelers in the world to create the best FSM issues we can, because we believe in the magazine’s mission. We’ll keep supporting shows. We’ll promote the hobby however and whenever we can.

What can you do? Keep supporting FSM. Help see us through this and what we may discover on the other side. If you can’t do that, no matter your reasoning, keep an eye out for issues that may interest you, and pick them up from a newsstand, hobby shop, bookstore, or online.

Again, if you haven’t received this information in a contact directly from Firecrown already, it is coming and I’m out ahead of it.

Thanks Tim! Appreciate you stepping in and explaining the situation. Hopefully it’ll get resolved soon.

I know it’s out of your control. but it would be nice if Customer Service sent an email saying, ‘Thank you for your submission, we’ll get back to you shortly’ so we know at least they’ve acknowledged our issue and our request isn’t sitting in the ether somewhere…

As a Canadian subscriber for multiple decades (since the early 90s) I can only express my extreme disappointment and frustration with this decision. I accepted the downsizing from 10 to 6 issues annually with understanding that it was getting more difficult to produce a full, well rounded issue that often. But now with 2 more years of a 3 year subscription to go, I’m now not even going to get those issues in physical form? WOW.

It’s not just about being able to access the articles….i spend too much time staring at screens at work and on the forums, I’m looking to unwind, rest my eyes (with reading glasses now) while I read the latest issue in print. As well, we try to limit the screen time my kids get and the love looking through the magazines and get excited about kits they want to build (even as many are way older than they are).

I enjoy pretty much every article in each issue, learning something new from most, but I’m not sure I want to pop down in front of a screen again to go through them. In fact, although I do own the DVD collections of FSM, I’m more likely to dig through old issues to find what I want than to fire up the computer and check the DVD. I still scour used book stores in my travels hunting for the last few issues I need to have a complete set from dat one.

Tim, I know you aren’t the one making the decision and I hope you don’t get any backlash from putting this out there. I’ve not received any official notice of this yet and hope that this decision gets reversed before it goes much further.

Some similarities here to @Frozin .
Canadian subscriber, with 2.5 years left on 3 year subscription.
Have not received any official notice yet either.

I had a digital subscription for 2024 (new subscriber) but decided I’d prefer the print version. I even went as far as to purchase back issues.
So I paid for a 3 year COMBINED, print AND digital subscription, which started with the May/June issue.
Therefore, I’ve received all of three print issues to date and now this. Great.
Because my subscription is combined, the digital version olive branch doesn’t work for me. I’m already getting it anyway.

I’ll be contacting customer service soon with some questions. ie: can I get a refund, please, and let’s just cancel the thing? Will my local Canadian hobby shop still be receiving print copies for them to sell?

So much for print media making a comeback.

Goes without saying that I’m not a happy customer.

Cheers,
Mark

I believe a refund is in order, you paid for a product that is no longer available to you, just an alternative isn’t good business practice, they should honor their customer commitment and allow a refund on remaining issues. What if the customer doesn’t have a device on which to read the digital copies? Let us know how it goes.

Will do.
