I want an airbrush...

Hi all

Ive decided: I want an airbrush.

Ive never used one and have been researching what’s out there - wow! so many to choose from. Initially I was going to buy the cheapest available, with the intention of using it to learn and perhaps at a later stage replacing it with a more expensive type. But after speaking to those in the know I think I might just lay out the cash for that better type. Im looking for a single action brush, less than U$70 and that’s relatively easy to use and clean. One name in particular keeps on coming up - Badger 200. Researching it further I see there are various models of Badger 200 - 200SG, 200G, 200NH, 200BF and 200-20… now Im stumped [%-)]

which version should I go with? Im thinking the 200BF (for U$58,50 here ), but a little advice would be appreciated!

thanks [:)]

If I was to buy a single action I would buy the 200NH at Dixie Art for only $46.00 delivered.

Thanks Bgrigg, Ive sent them an enquiry mail. Can you (or anybody else) tell me what the differences are (NH, BF etc)?

The “BF” model which you have linked shares the needle, head and tip assembly of the 100/150 series. (read that to mean well proven, and well supported).

The “NH” model appears to share the head/tip assembly of the 155/175 range.

I honestly can’t tell you what the difference in performance is, but I have the “old school” model and it works well for me. [:)]

I have NH and old school and the NH is better. It acts more like a double action, more specifically, the Anthem (which I also have) No seals to really worry about, either. And it’s easier to clean.

Get it.

Yay 1000 posts!

For a first airbrush the Paasche H is an excellent choice. It’s a rugged external mix single action airbrush. Mine is almost twenty years old and a good airbrush. If airbrushing is new to you the single action will be easier to learn to use than the double action. It might not be what you want but it’s worth a look. My other airbrushes are an Iwata photo retouch airbrush, Paasche VL & Paasche F. I’ve also had a couple of Badgers. For the use and cost the Paasche H was the best value. It’s also easy to keep clean. Even with other choices I still use the H the most.

thanks guys!

now if they would just reply… [:(!]
