I think I have seen the light....!

After returning to the hobby some 18 months ago I went straight back to what I knew as a lad and started building aircraft and was thouroughly enjoying it, I even started to get some good results but, as my M4A2 (1st armour build) approaches completion I have to say it is like a breath of fresh air! I am already planning my next two builds and there aint a wing in sight. I truly have turned to the darkside, from now on I shal be known as Darth Tecs [}:)]

Here are some in progress pics and any suggestions for this or even kit suggestions for my upcomming projects are welcome.

Thanks for looking guys.

Looks like a nice clean build so far. Is this the Dragon kit? Can’t blame you for turning to the Dark Side. Hehe

Ironically, I keep saying I’m going to finish my Zero and other wingies and there they sit…

Looking good, but I hope you’re not gonna leave the tools in the bright silver? They should be painted in a dark metallic steel/brown, and then lightly drybrushed in silver–or are they a white metal casting and you’re still working on 'em?

Anyway, other than that, you might wanna clean up that seam on the idler wheel too…a couple small fixes, she’ll be cherry!

Welcome back, and I’m looking forward to seeing more of your work![:)]

The machine gun looks really good. [:D] Take those tools back to sears… get ‘ya some lookin’ like that .50

Great work so far! We all can relate to the switching over to Armour. Like you, i was into modern jets but armour seemed more appealing as you have the ability to weather a tank alot more than you do with a plane. There’s so many things you can do with it. Muddy, dusty, rusty or even spotless. Welcome back to the hobby!

This is shaping up nicely. I, too, started out with planes but once I built my first tank i was completely hooked. Welcome to the dark side

I know the feeling, I used build primarily floatie things. Now my 3 current builds are all tracked things.

With some weathering and some toning down of those tools that is going to be a great first tank!

I too used to model exclusively 1/72 aircraft. Armor has a totally different set of appeals. I think most of all, it’s the focus on mechanical functionality more than the aerodynamic form of a/c.

That being said, I’ve never seen a M4A2 with an engine starting lever on the rear bulkhead like that. Shouldn’t the storage rack be in place? That’s why there’s those three notches atop the rear bulkhead. Also, the front and rear rectangular parts of the long pry bar are the brackets that held the bar, not the bar itself. They should be OD as well.

Good luck w/your (I assume Soviet) Sherman

very nice work so far. love the color. also you might want to drill out some of those holes on the .50, other that that and the above mentioned, great looking build. keep us posted with osme new pics with your progress [:D]
