I prefer the Cone of Silence

Eew, that looks like a COVID-19 exchange device. Or a Social Distancing kissing machine.

Weather can be hard to predict, depending on the geographical location. In Japan, the daily weather reports on TV are pretty accurate. If they say it will rain in Tokyo this afternoon at 2:00, it usually does. But in Hawaii, it is always “Mostly sunny today, with passing showers in the windward-mauka areas, trades at 5-15 MPH.”

But on a larger scale, hurricane season is a lot harder to predict. It all depends on a number of factors of the prevailing climate. Here in Hawaii, summer heat is only beginning, and the hyper rubbish generating tree in my front yard has been correspondingly late in unleashing its “bloom doom”. Maybe that signals a quieter hurricane season in the Pacific region. Unfortunately that has little bearing on the Atlantic. Sorry guys.

Exactly. It’s not weather reporting, it’s weathertainment. It’s bad enough that the rest of the media will pick up a weather story and beat the drum about it (“Snowpocalypse!” “Thundersnow!”, etc, etc) but weather broadcasters themselves engage in it. It’s about ratings as much as it is about providing the audience with information about the weather.

This is going to make a little impact too - last night.

Hummm. Wasnt expecting to see these yet…

Thats why they have the eye candy weather women in skimpy outfits presenting the forecast as well.

I go with the “weather rock” by the porch steps. When its wet it’s raining, if white it’s snowing. When it’s cold it’s freezing, if hot the sun is out.

Omigosh! It’s,It’s da Moooon !

I too use my weather rock for most days, it’s as accurate as any other source, but also, here in Central Oregon if you don’t like the weather, just wait 20 minutes.

As for meteorologists, that’s why, in the service we called them weatherguessers. Need I say more.

I hear the 20 minutes… If it’s hot it’ll get hotter. If cold, will get colder. If rain it will stop.

I tuned out when the ‘experts’ at the Weather Channel decided that every winter storm just had to be ‘named’. So that we know Snownado Beryl is the storm that is going to kill us all…and when it doesn’t, Bomb Cyclone Milt certainly will. This is what you get when you have 8000000000 ignorant, uneducated, juvenile media outlets all screaming for your attention every day.

The weather is basically the same in Indiana.

When the lake effect snow hits in the winter, all you have to do is drive 5-10 minutes down the road to see a drastic change in snowfall.

From a friends house in pass Christian, ms. The house across the bayou is definitely underwater on the ground level. - use to be mine… the pool is under too along with the equipment, etc. Dock, lawn, etc in foreground is under too. As you look across the way you can tell by the oaks how much is covered…
